A very popular diet plan around at the moment is the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet. Why is the idiot approach such a top program? As with all diets, some people love it and believe it to be the answer to their weight loss problems, whilst others can't wait to pull it apart and find any hidden flaws.

The Diet Handbook is a PDF guide to the way the program works and the principles that it's based upon. The Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet works on the calorie shifting principle which encourages you to change around the foods that you eat and when you eat them, on a regular basis.

This tricks your metabolism, which speeds up or slows down the fat burning process, into burning calories at a faster rate because it can't get a grip on your eating pattern.

Any changes in the routine of your usual eating habits, either the timing of your meals or the amount of calories you take in, is usually worked out by your body within a few days of the change, and then your metabolism slows to accommodate it.

The Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet gets you to eat at different times, and eat different types of food throughout the first 11 day phase to stop this from happening and keep your metabolism fired up.

The Diet Generator allows you to choose 15-30 of your favorite foods which will then become the basis of a 4 meal a day printable diet plan. The food list is made up of healthy and generally low-carb foods which include things like tuna, eggs, chicken, fruit and vegetables. There is a vegetarian version of the Diet Generator for non-meat eaters.

Each of the 4 meals must be eaten at least 2.5 hours apart and can be eaten in any order, although you cannot combine ingredients from the separate meals and eat them at the same time.

You don't have to count calories on the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet, nor are you restricted in any way on how much you eat. What they do suggest however, is that you eat only to the point of feeling satiated and no further.

You continue eating the planned meals for 11 days and then come off the eating plan and eat whatever you want for the next 3 days, although you are encouraged not to go too mad and to try and keep it healthy.

When the 3 days are up, you generate a new 11 day plan and start over again. This pattern continues until you have lost the desired amount of weight.

There are lots of suggestions to help things along such as drinking plenty of water, knowing which foods burn fat faster etc, and if you are not happy with your 11 day food plan, you can just generate as many as you want until you are satisfied.

All in all, the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet appears to be a refreshingly healthy, low cost and easy to use aid to weight loss. In short, useful.
