Daddy's Legacy

Six feet tall in his stocking feet
with an inch or two to spare,

like coffee laced with whipping cream,
his skin it was so fair.

Above his lips below his nose
his moustache did stand out,

all neatly groomed and trimmed it was
without a minute's doubt.

He was long and lean and lanky,
he was handsome as could be.

He always tamed the hats he wore
with creases A to Z.

His khakis creased and starched
from waist to spit-shined shoes,

all bathed and dressed and smelling good
he's ready for some blues.

Daddy loved and cherished Mama,
she was his all and all

He showed her his devotion
when he called her "Baby Doll".

He always tried to snuggle at the end of every day
It did us kids a world of good to see our dad that way.

Daddy loved us kids a lot, we knew that from the start.
The attention he provided us came from deep within his heart.

Six feet tall with mocha skin and wise beyond his years,
he left this world in '88 I cried a many tears.

I wiped my face I dried my tears my dad's life was over.
He lived his life he gave his best, And, now he's with Jehovah.

Now that Daddy's gone I know the lessons that he left,
everything he taught me makes me be my better self.

His legacy is simple; it is awesome with its power,
to live and love to sing and dance and to embrace the hour.

Happy Father's Day, Daddy!

Father's Day is observed on different days in different countries of the world. Many countries celebrate it on the second Sunday in June. This year Father's Day will be celebrated on Sunday, June 17, 2012 in most countries.

In Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea, Father's Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in the month of September. This year the date is September 2, 2012.

In countries like Argentina, Canada, Chile, China, France, Greece, India, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Malta, Pakistan, South Africa, United States and United Kingdom, Father's Day is observed on the third Sunday in June. This year, the day falls on June 17, 2012.

The Austrians and Belgians will be celebrating the occasion on the second Sunday of June i.e., June 10, 2012.

The joyous occasion of Father's Day is observed on March 18 in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Bolivia, Honduras and Macao.

The Brazilians and Samoans will be celebrating the day on the second Sunday of August i.e., August 12, 2012.

Other countries like Scandinavia, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Estonia and Finland mark the festival on second Sunday in the month of November.

Father's Day is all about your dad! Show him how much you care about him this Father's Day by doing something fun and healthy together.

Here are some fun activities that will give your more ideas on how you can spend Father's Day with your dad in a memorable and enjoyable way.

Wash and detail Dad's car: If the kids are old enough, a simple task such as washing dad's car is inexpensive and much appreciated! To make the event a family affair, supply enough mitts or towels for everyone and make the chore one of water filled fun.

Fire up the Grill or the Barbeque Pit! It's a well-known fact that most men enjoy grilling outside. Surprise your dad with steaks, chicken, ribs or whatever his favorite meat is for a cook-out. That is sure to win his heart! A perfect Father's Day for many dads will include a burger, a grill and lots of outdoor fun.

On this special day, however, offer to cook for your dad! To keep the day simple and intimate, a backyard celebration fits the bill perfectly for many dads.

Play catch with a Frisbee a football and Dad is sure to have some fun with the kids while tending to the duty as grill master.

Help Dad out by making the side-dishes and cleaning up afterwards.

Plant something that grows with your dad. A tree or flower or vegetable seeds are good ideas, then make a wish. Watch your plant grow over the next months and years.

Do some of Dad's chores so he'll have free time on Father's Day weekend]. Better yet, do them ahead of time and then relax with him.

Think about Dad's interests. What is his favorite weekend pastime? Golf? A baseball game? Fishing? Plan and participate in the activity with Dad to make it a memorable day.

Take a walk and pick up as many neat treasures as you can find while you are walking (i.e., bottle caps, twigs, and bits of wire, etc.). Make a sculpture with your findings and some glue.

Go rock hunting in your back yard or while walking and see how many different rock types you can find. Make a collection out of them.

Gift Cards, Golf Supplies/Tee time, and Team Gear are great favorites for Dads.

It really doesn't matter what you do for your Dad. It's not important where you take him or what you cook for him - - just do something that comes straight from your heart. He'll cherish the time and effort you put into making him feel special much more than any store bought present you can buy.

A little girl was sitting in her father's lap as he read her a goodnight story. From time to time, she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. By and by she was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again.

Finally she spoke, "daddy, did God make you?"

"Yes, sweetheart" he answered, "God made me a long time ago."

"Oh she said," then "daddy, did God make me too?"

"Yes, indeed honey" he assured her. "God made you just a little while ago."

"Oh" she said. Feeling their respective faces again, she observed, "God's getting better at it now isn't he?"

Dear Son,
I kNOw that astroNOmy, ecoNOmics, and oceaNOgraphy are eNOugh to keep even an hoNOr student busy. Do NOt forget that the pursuit of kNOwledge is a NOble task, and you can never study eNOugh.
