We will end up placing ministry ahead of our own families if we struggle in this area. One statistic showed that most children who grow up with a parent in the ministry do not want anything to do with it when they reach adulthood.
Jack Frost goes on to teach that pain seeks pleasure. If we are not comforted by love we will seek it in food, alcohol, drugs, etc.
God has a place of rest and comfort for all His children when we can learn to relate to Him as a loving Father!

Ed had such a fear of being abandoned by the women of his life. After talking some he shared that his mother had said over and over to him, "You're not my son! You're not my son!" She had never said this to his brothers, only to him. So feeling hurt and rejected he joined a gang at age 12.
