Feeding Koi Fish

Ranked #31,733 in Pets & Animals, #1,193,994 overall

Feeding Koi Fish

Feeding koi fish is different because they are one of the few fish that actually don't have a stomach! They also have different feeding requirement according to their age and the temperature.

Feeding Koi

Koi fish don't have a stomach so they rely on their teeth and chewing as a starting point for digestion. The temperature and age also help you in determining how to feed them. Younger koi require more food and koi require less food in cooler temperatures.
* It's best to buy food specific for koi
* Floating pellets are good because any leftovers can be skimmed off the top
* In cold weather feed a food rich in wheat germ for easier digestion.
