Big Craze - Felting!

Felting is spreading like wildfire, and so many fiber artists, crafters, and totally new lovers of the art, are interested in knowing more, sharing what they know, and getting together with others who have become addicted. Felting is an ancient art, but is becoming very current with new techniques every day, inspired by so many who have fallen in love with the creativity it brings. Working with wool and other natural and man made fibers in so many different ways with felting, shows how predictable and unpredictable felting can be. Limitless possibilities, and a way to make things that are unique, one-of-a-kind, artworks that no one else would even think of! Sculpture, fabric, jewelry, wearable art, fun, serious, and a way to let your mind go crazy with ideas and reap results from them. What is felt? Have you ever washed a wool sweater and found it has been shrunk down to a mini of what you started with? The wool "felted", and there are many creative ways to felt.

Here's why I'm making this page

I would like to share ideas, techniques, photos, and what I have learned about the art of felting! Anyone who wants to do it, or just find out what is involved in doing it, will find it good reading! I am hooked, and hope you will be too. I want to hear from other felters, or those interested, about their experiences with felting, show off their felted artworks, and make the most of this awesome ancient art!

Felting is a way of entangling loose wool fibers to make felted fiber or unique sculpted forms. The two primary felting methods are wet felting and needle felting. It's always nice to find out if a felter has a "niche", something that they always gravitate to in their artworks. I try to spread mine around, and my ideas tend to be "off the wall", unusual things that pop into my head. What about you?
