Holidays in France
We've had some wonderful family holidays taking our trailer tent to France, Italy, Portugal and Spain or just driving to stay at a holiday home. We're hoping one day to take the trailer tent as far as Croatia but so far have been deterred by the potential cost and the time that would be needed to do it properly.
We've stayed in some wonderful places though, including the Dordogne and Lot regions of France (Meyronne is a particular favourite of mine), the Ardeche (Vogue is another favourite spot), the Tarn Gorges, Carcassonne (despite an unfair reputation), Charante-Poitou (just west and north of the Dordogne), Serta and Braganza in Portugal, a relatively undiscovered part of Spain called La Alberca and many parts of the French and Italian Mediterranean coastline.
With the Pound's weakness against the Euro and the way fuel prices have "yoyo'd" over the last year or so, our type of holiday has become an increasingly expensive proposition so anything to save costs is really important. One essential aspect is to know ALL the various options for booking ferries to France.
The use of an unbiased site giving all the alternative routes for ferries to France could save a lot of money.
As well as the expensive routes across the Western parts of the Channel, operated by Brittany Ferries and the busy routes from Dover operated by P & O, Norfolk Line and Seafrance, we've often found the routes operated by Transmanche and LDLines can give better value and be more convenient, so a site which can offer a "Ferry Search Tool" covering all the available routes, sailing times, prices and availability can be invaluable.

5 things you shouldn't miss!
If you are going to travel by ferry to France, you might enjoy visiting Meyronne and the surrounding area (the view from the bridge next to the La Terrasse hotel/restaurant is unbeatable), the Ile de Re, Brantome and the surrounding area, the Tarn Gorges and the coastline south of Arcachon. There's no way they could all be seen properly on one visit however.
Photos are almost like being there (but not quite)
