From the lens Where Did All the Good Guys Go?.

Living in the real world? hmmm... yeah, about that.

My contact with Humans has been extremely limited. My contact with men, limited only to men within a single church (cult?) congregation. Experience has taught me that men are lying cheating thieves (see my homelessness lenses for more info on what happened.) I was stuck with a man from the time I was 12 until I was 27. I had zero contact with any other men my whole life. I was never allowed to leave the house or to speak to others, and I never saw ant other men at all. You got to understand the type of men I grew up with to understand my meaning here.

I've only been out and about in "the real world" for less than 3 years, and I'm actually finding it very difficult to live in, because never having contact with Humans before and now trying to live among them, is very difficult for me. It's like they are a whole different race.

NO! NO! NO! NO! You completely miss interpreted what I said. I admire his devotion to her, not that he let her run around. I was saying that most men would leave a woman for far less offenses than she put him through. Adultery is a grave sin and was punishable by execution right here in the USA until the mid-1950s, a law that should never have been changed. Personally I can not understand why it isn't still punishable by death. But yes, I agree with you, she was a ridiculous slut, and I actually hate her character, and don't think that he should ever have wanted to be with her to begin with. My point is, this guy had so much love and devotion, that in spite of her sinfulness, he still loved her. That just amazes me, because in the real world a guy would say "You gonna cheat on me? Just you watch me cheat right back!" The natural response is to spite a person not love them more. Faithfulness and devotion are so rare in the real world.

The sad truth is I and friends of mine have both been the type to wait for a girl. But in the end, whats mean to be is meant to be. And the fact that you cherish this man (character) because he let the woman he love go out and do what she wanted is rediculous. No man, and no woman, should wait around for the one they love to come to their senses. Why should a woman expect a man to wait for her like that. No woman is worth waiting your whole life for while watching her live her own life and mess around with other men.

You just can't be please by anyone or anything real, can you? Fiction is great, but we need to live in the real world and try to be too horribly bitter.

I totally feel you! Especially with your choice of Colonel Brandon. I'd probably have him on my list as well, along with Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. Great lens!

This is funny. Well, at least you know what you want! I too think I'm single for life, but I am not quite ready to write about it :)
