The Internet is full of Scams and Hype!

If you're an Internet business skeptic, lead the revolt!

Or at least, take a minute to read this kibitz about what a drag it is to wade through overblown promises when you are searching for an mlm home based business opportunity on the Internet. You are starting to wonder - is Internet business and especially network marketing a scam?

Is there a solution? Well, honesty would be refreshing, I'd say. How can we get to honesty in the flashing, blinking world of the Internet?

Let's talk.

Don't Let Internet Hype and Network Marketing Scam Language Make You Nuts

I don't know about you, but if I hear one more mlm network marketing guru bragging about her $25,000 week I believe I will scream. (I call this network marketing scam language. She may have made 25K last week, but what did it take to build the list and her business to that magical point? It's so appealing sounding, and so scam-y!)

If another flashing, fluorescent internet marketing opportunity advertisement promises me massive riches for clicking mindlessly through some eye-crossing, empty-headed surfing site, I think I'm going postal (except, without the gun - I'm sorta nonviolent).

If one more perfectly-coiffed, professionally-photographed family-man beams at me while announcing that he only worked for 30 seconds today and he made a billion dollars and then took his shining children to the beach, I will call those nice young men in their clean white coats because they're coming to take me away.

Hype Defined

So, what is hype?

Besides the obvious (annoying!), I guess you could define it through the literary device hyperbole: that's when a writer makes an exaggerated claim that the reader knows is exaggerated to make drive home a point. Usually, in literature, it's funny.

Sometimes, it's funny in real life, too: When your teenage daughter says she will DIE if she can't stay out till midnight, that's hyperbole. Funny to you, not to her!

But mlm network marketers and internet marketers have mangled the humor of hyperbole, and that's the problem. Marketers are just using dirty, cheap hype on the Internet.

It positively makes me yearn for the good old days when you went to the LIBRARY for information. Ah, those idyllic days (before libraries contained rows of computers) of card catalogs and sensibly-shoed ladies who shushed you for speaking in a normal voice.

They were the antithesis of hype, right? Looking for information in a library 25 years ago was like being in church.

But finding such reliable, clean information on the Internet without the ugly taint of hype seems an impossible task.

Am I a grouch?

Of course, sentiments like these make me sound even older than I am. (Don't ask. A lady never discloses her true age. Oh, what the heck...I'm 37!)

What, am I longing for the good ole days so soon? (To paraphrase Bill Cosby: Yes, Junior, I walked to school in the snow without shoes uphill BOTH WAYS.)

I'm a bit too young for that much grouch.

And while libraries then were more reverent than the Internet is now, I don't think there was any opportunity to make money at the library.

Hey, I know there wasn't...have you ever seen the librarians' pay scale? And they have to have a Masters degree for that pittance!

I've Got Something to Say About MLM Upline Hype, too!

Hype Equals Frustration

That is what makes the search so frustrating. You type in a query and you get bombarded with hype.

If you weren't a cynic when you arrived, you will be after an hour of search engine Hades. You have to wade through so much hyperbole that you start to think they are all crooks and liars.

Or worse, maybe there isn't any real information on the Internet at all.

Maybe you should embrace your future in the food service industry. Buy a pair of plastic pineapple earrings (Recognize that image from "The Ref?") and call it quits on the 'Net.

The point is -- who can hear a reasonable person, offering reasonable systems, with reasonable financial outcomes that match your reasonable input of effort with all those other people SHOUTING THEIR BRAINS OUT!

Hype is the enemy of the thinking person and it pushes rational human beings out of the picture. Which is a shame, since the Internet needs more rational people, I'd say.

My Pollyanna Moment

And here's the rub:

I actually think that maybe...if you pick a legit system....if you learn some actual skills...if you put in a real effort...there IS money to be made using the Internet.

I know. What, ho! You didn't see the Pollyanna moment coming? Ah, the terrible, secret truth is that under every hard-bitten skeptic is someone just groping desperately for something to actually believe in!

I'm guilty as charged - a hopeful skeptic.

Skeptic Overboard!

So here's my plan.

I've signed up with one of the less flourescent systems (have a free peek) to learn how to do marketing for my mlm home based business online.

I'm going to follow it with a sincere and reasonable effort.

I'm going to work my tail off, actually, because I don't have a lot of choices at the moment. Maybe you found this article because you are in a similar boat. If so, I greet you, comrade!

I'll Test the Renegade Professional Claims...

you just watch!

I'm inviting you to watch me either fail or break even or succeed.

I'm setting up a blog that will track my progress in this (hopefully) reasonable system and I invite you to visit.

Check out how I'm doing. Sign up to get email updates on my progress or lack thereof. Mock me, if you must.

But at least you will get an honest, no hype report. You may get more outlandish comic and film references, but you won't get HYPE.

You might consider selecting a different, system, and we can build a little network of honest blogs about what works and what doesn't.

Wouldn't that be refreshing?!

"Ah, goldfish. Dreamers all!" (from Elmo's World...hey I've got a kid.)

For now, you can just call me your favorite MLM Home Based Business CRASH TEST DUMMY.
