I have a number of Filson products, this Wool Packer Hat being one of them. I use it all winter long for everything but running around in the mud. Even though it could handle it, I just don't want to misuse a good piece of clothing.

It's not unusual to find Filson wool garments handed down from generation to generation. I'm hoping that one of my sons or son-in-law will want to use them. I'm sure that they will treasured them as much as I do. That's because, even in this age of synthetic wonder fabrics, wool continues to be the fabric of choice for me as well as other serious outdoorsmen. Naturally water repellent, wool will absorb as much as 30% of its own weight in moisture without becoming damp or clammy. So, it retains body warmth even when very wet.

The toughest of the tough, the Filson Oil Finish Double Tin Pants provide maximum water repellency and durability, featuring a double layer of Oil Finish Tin Cloth from waist to knee on front and back of legs and 2 front slash pockets.

When people try to describe just how tough Cotton Tin Cloth is, claims of "it actually saved my life" or "I've worn it for 50 years" aren't uncommon. It earned the name Tin Cloth decades ago when tin was the standard for toughness. Incredibly heavy and rugged, it's still the fabric of choice for maximum protection against rain, wind, brush and abrasion. 12.5 oz. oil Finish Tin Cloth is the most durable, abrasion and wind resistant cloth that Filson makes.

The Filson Mackinaw Wool Bibs are 24 oz. Mackinaw Wool. This is thick, heavy, and offers superior warmth and durability. They are 100% virgin wool and can absorbs up to 30% of its weight in water without becoming damp or clammy.

Wool is naturally quiet in the field. These bibs are unlined, and sized to fit over long johns, so order your normal pant size. There are 2 front slash pockets, 2 back pockets with flaps, button on left back pocket, watch pocket on right front waistband, field pocket on side of each leg, flap secured by a snap, chest pocket with flap secured by a snap, and a 3-slot pencil pocket on chest. The Brass zipper fly has a Gusset on each side with riveted buttons. There are adjustable elastic cotton suspenders with thick bridle leather tabs (Forest Green bibs have Dark Tan suspenders; Charcoal bibs have Red suspenders)

These bibs fit a lot like Filson's wool pants, but perhaps not as large as some people expect bibs to fit. Order a size up if you need extra room to layer heavily or for greater freedom of movement.

These bibs do not have tapered legs, because a straight cut leg is more practical in a bib this heavy, to fit over heavy or bulky cold-weather boots. Bibs are unfinished in length. And the are Made in USA.
