Fireplace Mantels - You Can Do It

- Use a pencil to mark a line on the wall to use as a guide when installing mantel surround

- Take Stone mantel down

- Re-verify with 6' level, that links are plum and level

- Use liquid nails Construction adhesive

- With a ¼" opening in tip of tube apply to one leg

- Press firmly against wall and floor ensuring leg is aligned with plum line

- Follow adhesive manufacturer's recommendations for use

- Repeat process for second leg

- Allow time to dry

- Apply adhesive to top of both legs

- Apply adhesive to mantel back

- Lift mantel into place and press firmly to wall and down on legs

- Check for level

- Allow time to dry

- Use sanded caulk and apply a %u215B" bead where mantel and legs meet wall

- Wipe with a wet finger to ensure a smooth bead

- Wipe wall and mantel clean with a damp sponge.
