Escape Ladder Essentials - Practice, practice, practice!

Practice on your escape ladder - beat panic!

Child using Fire Escape LadderWhen purchasing any emergency fire escape ladders or safety equipment it is always a good idea to make sure it works. In the case of a fire escape ladder a practice run is ideal. This will ensure that firstly it does the job you want it to and secondly everyone will know what to do and how to do it. There is very little point in fighting with the ladder wrapping while flames are licking your butt. Get everything out and test it. Any dependable fire escape ladder will be able to be closed up again in readiness for the real event.

During the test you will need to check that the window sill hooks are suitable and fit correctly. The ladder needs to be a 2 Story Fire Escape Ladder, long enough to reach the ground avoiding unnecessary risks by making people jump the last few feet. Children need to be shown how to work the ladder just in case they are trapped upstairs with adults below. In a real situation panic is the greatest problem you will face - preparation will go a long way to ensuring your survival.

3 Story Fire Escape Ladders

Those of us lucky enough to afford a three story house need to make sure that our home escape ladder is long enough to reach the ground. Extended versions of the basic design of the window escape ladder is readily available at about 24 foot in length and though I'd like to say not much more in price. The point is void when it comes to saving yours or your children's lives. Working on exactly the same principle, the Three Story 24-Foot Escape Ladder needs to be tested and everyone made familiar with its operation.

Permanent and Telescopic Fire Escape Ladders

Securely anchored and

As an alternative to the 'hook on the window sill' type of emergency escape ladder you may wish to consider a wall mounted 'boxed' ladder. This box is mounted firmly and errantly to the wall under the window sill. The ladder inside is firmly attached to the box and the box provides a neat and tidy storage solution for the ladder as well as a strong anchor point when in use.

If trying to negotiate your way down a swinging rope fire escape ladder does not inspire confidence the perhaps an Aluminimum Telescopic Ladder might offer a solution. These take up very little room but can be quickly stretched out to full length and provide a more traditional access from an emergency situation.

Excellent! Everyone with a 2 story or more house should have a fire escape ladder and I agree with you, they do need to practice with them when there is no stress or anxiety. I absolutely had no idea that there were 3 story ladders. That really is excellent!

This si good advice, "hen purchasing any emergency fire escape ladders or safety equipment it is always a good idea to make sure it works. In the case of a fire escape ladder a practice run is ideal." Just like the fire drills we used to have in school.

Great information. Fortunately I've never been in a position where I needed one.
