Flagstaff is AWESOME!!!!This quaint little college / mountain town has so much to offer. From hiking, skiing, shopping, or sight seeing, the possibilities are endless. Personally, I think fall is one of the best times to visit Flagstaff because the leaves are changing to beautiful fall colors and the weather is just about perfect...if you like wearing sweaters and sipping a hot coffee while you soak in the sun on a chilly day!

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Let's Hit the Road!!!!

Flagstaff is accessible from many directions. From Phoenix, you just go about 150 miles (2 hours) north on I-17. From Las Vegas, you take AZ-93 south to I-40 east to Flagstaff. This 260-mile trip will take you about 4 hours. If you're coming from the east, Flagstaff is about 325 miles from Albuquerque on I-40.

Of course, these are just general directions so be sure to look up more specific directions before you leave the the house! You can simply click this google link to get driving directions.

The city is named after a Ponderosa Pine flagpole made by a scouting party from Boston (known as the "Second Boston Party") to celebrate the United States Centennial on July 4, 1876.

Flagstaff lies near the southwestern edge of the Colorado Plateau, along the western side of the largest contiguous Ponderosa Pine forest in the continental United States."Biotic Communities of the Colorado Plateau." Northern Arizona University. Retrieved on March 2, 2007. Flagstaff is located adjacent to Mount Elden, just south of the San Francisco Peaks, the highest mountain range in the state of Arizona. Humphreys Peak, the highest point in Arizona at 12,633 feet (3,850 m), is located about 10 miles (16 km) north of Flagstaff in Kachina Peaks Wilderness.

Flagstaff's early economy was based on the lumber, railroad, and ranching industries. Today, the city remains an important distribution hub for companies such as Nestlé Purina PetCare and Walgreens, and is home to Lowell Observatory and Northern Arizona University. Flagstaff has a strong tourism sector, due to its proximity to Grand Canyon National Park, Oak Creek Canyon, and historic Route 66. The city is also home to medical device manufacturing, including such companies as W. L. Gore and Associates, and Machine Solutions.
