I love GLASS. It's what I do.

For almost 40 years I've worked with glass in many forms. Stained glass, fused glass, blown glass... glass, glass, glass!

And I collect information about glass. Books, catalogs, pamphlets, photos, postcards... All types of glass info, especially the old stuff that you rarely find anymore.

Some of it I resell on eBay.

Most of it is piling up in my office/studio.

When I find something I think should still be available to other glass artists/collectors, I republish it.

So far, I've republished two rare glassworking books - one on Painting and Firing Stained Glass, and another one on Glass Blowing with a torch and glass rods and tubes (also known as Lampwork).

Another recent project is a vintage book on Lampwork (see the cover photo at the top of this 'Lens'). This one has just been updated and digitally "republished" as a PDF format e-Book so you can instantly download and read it right on your computer!

It's called The Starving Artist's Guide to Glass Blowing, and it's currently available from my website. Right now, it costs only $9.97, but you'd better get a copy right away... Before I have to raise the price.

Buy it and download it any time, whether it's the middle of the day, or the middle of the night!

Speaking of eBay®, go check out this page where you can search for misspelled auction items.

When a seller spells an item title wrong, it doesn't show up in the search results where the buyers are looking, so it doesn't get as many bids. But if YOU can find these misspelled bargains, YOU can save money!! Go there NOW!

By popular demand we've set up a store at CafePress offering shirts, hats, and other useful stuff featuring vintage images from our collection of rare and out-of-print books, prints, photos, catalogs, and other glass-related ephemera.

Check it out by clicking on the picture below!

All of these (and a few hundred more) are in our own library.

Shouldn't they be in yours, too?

Contemporary Lampworking: A Practical Guide to Shaping Glass in the Flame (Volume 1 and 2)

This is probably the best book available on working glass in the torch.

Creative Glass Blowing: Scientific and Ornamental

Here's an older lampworking how-to that has lots of well-illustrated step-by-step instructions.

Glass Blowing

This little book was originally published by the A.C. Gilbert company in the 1920's for one of their scientific experiment sets. The equipment has changed since then, but the techniques are the same.

The Complete Book of Glass Beadmaking

A terrific book on all facets of making glass beads with the torch.

Glass Blowing: A Technical Manual

Here's a recent book about offhand glassblowing - the kind where you dip molten glass out of a furnace with a blowpipe.

About FledglingStudio_com

I never considered myself a hippie during the 60's and 70's, though I now know that I was. College dropout, political radical, artist, back-to-the land-er. I even lived in a converted school bus for a while.

Now I'm older, balder, wiser?

And I'm a certifiable GLASS junkie.

I love GLASS. It's what I do.

For the last 35 years I've worked with glass in many forms. Stained glass, fused glass, blown glass, glass, glass, glass!

And I collect information about glass. Books, catalogs, pamphlets, photos, postcards... All types of glass info, especially the old stuff that you rarely see anymore.

My next project is another rare old book on Lampwork. This one will be "republished" as a PDF file so it can be automatically downloaded from my website, even at 2 in the morning!
