Originally discovered in 1513 by explorer Juan Ponce de Leon, Florida is the fourth most populated state in the country. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that it will surpass New York to become the third by 2011. Since the state is home to total of 33 of the Fortune 500 Companies and has a number of mid to large sized cities there are many places to look for a job in Florida.

The largest industries in Florida are tourism and agriculture. The fastest growing sectors in the state include: healthcare and educational services, professional, scientific and technical services, phosphate mining and biotechnology.

U.S. Census Bureau data showed that approximately 18,089,888 called Florida home in 2006. Around 79.9 percent of residents have a high school education and 22.3 percent have a Bachelor's degree or higher.

Life in Florida 

Many people chose to live in Florida for the many options the state gives in regards to both education and entertainment.

In addition to this there are 48 private Universities and 28 community colleges.

Some of the largest sports teams in the state are the Miami Dolphins (football), the Miami Heat (basketball), the Florida Marlins (baseball), the Florida Panthers (ice hockey) and the Miami FC (soccer). Other things to do in the state include visiting the National Museum of Naval Aviation, going to Disney World, the Kennedy Space Center or the Daytona International Speedway.
