The Church of the Flying Spagetti Monster

In 2005, FSM founder Bobby Henderson wrote a letter to the Kansas City School Board in response to their decision to begin teaching the theory of intelligent design as an alternative to evolution. As Henderson stated, "f the Intelligent Design theory is not based on faith, but instead another scientific theory, as is claimed, then you must also allow our theory to be taught, as it is also based on science, not on faith."

Mr. Henderson's letter pointed out the need for the school board to consider multiple creation theories if they were going to cram Intelligent Design down their students throat. In 1987 the US Supreme Court (Edwards v. Aguillard) ruled that teaching "creationism" violates the separation of Church and State, in other words, to teach these theories "endorses" religion.
