1) In 2001, Priest Holmes became the first un drafted player out of college to lead the NFL in rushing.

3) Philadelphia Eagles running back Reno Mahe took a $7-an-hour job seating customers, clearing tables, and wiping down menus during the off-season at a restaurant and bar where a lot of Eagles players hang out. He also spent his Fridays as a substitute teacher in the Spring (TX) School District.

4) The Miami Hurricanes had the most players on NFL Kickoff 2004 rosters, leading the way with 43. Florida and Notre Dame tied for the most players in 2004 with 40 each. A total of 251 schools were represented on 2004 Kickoff Weekend rosters.

5) Bill Walsh, who coached the 49ers to three Super Bowl wins in the 1980s, sent a letter to every NFL team recommending they draft Jeff Garcia out of San Jose State. Garcia, a future Pro Bowler, still went un drafted and couldn't even get a free agent invitation to an NFL camp. He only got his shot at the NFL, after playing well in the Canadian Football League.

6) LaDainian Tomlinson wasn't heavily recruited to play college football because he played fullback, not tailback, until his senior year of high school. Tomlinson, who went to TCU, is still the only Division I college football player to ever rush for 400 yards in a single game.

7) The NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles had the NFL's heaviest contingent of offensive linemen, averaging 323.1 pounds per man, on their 2004 Kickoff Weekend roster, while the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots had one of the lighter offensive lines, averaging 299.2 pounds per man.

9) The 2003 season was the first since 1928 that the NFL had at least one player from each Ivy League school (eight of the oldest and most prestigious colleges and universities in the country). They were: Brown University, Sean Morey, Philadelphia Eagles; Columbia University, Marcellus Wiley, San Diego Chargers; Cornell University, Seth Payne, Houston Texans; Dartmouth College, Jay Fiedler, Miami Dolphins; Harvard University, Matt Birk, Minnesota Vikings and Iasaiah Kacyvenski, Seattle Seahawks; University of Pennsylvania, Jim Finn, New York Giants; Princeton University, Ross Tucker, Buffalo Bills and Dennis Norman, Seattle Seahawks; Yale University, Chris Hetherington, Oakland Raiders.

10) Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb played high school basketball with NBA star Antoine Walker at Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, Illinois.
