ForeverMorgans Horse Rescue champions Morgan Horses!

ForeverMorgans is a small but mighty group of volunteers that join forces to make a difference in the life of a horse in need. Our members have their own full time jobs, live all over the country and are dedicated to save Morgans and half Morgans whenever and wherever they can.

In order to raise funds to help accomplish that goal, we have created an online shop with clothing, mugs, prints and much more featuring Morgan horses with all the proceeds go to help Morgan horses in need. Our store includes beautiful art by the award winning artist Lynne Peterson and we welcome other artists submissions as well.

If you are looking for unique equine gifts, gift ideas for a horse lover or just a way to help, be sure to check out the ForeverMorgans Horse Rescue online shop!

Meet rescued Morgan Caribbean Jack

Caribbean Jack's Story.............................
No name or pedigree was with this handsome Morgan gelding when AC4H found him in
the broker lot, but the fact that he was a Morgan was unmistakable. His picture and what
they knew about him was posted on the AC4H broker pages: approx.10 yr old black Morgan
gelding, 15 hands, had on Amish road shoes, as well as the telltale neck indentation from the
harness collar and a bare rub mark on his withers where the pad of the harness had rubbed
him raw. I saw his pictures on the website and fell in love with him, he had the softest eyes
that just spoke to me and told me that I needed to help him. Not having enough funds to
purchase him myself I offered this horse a home as a foster/purchase, that I would
eventually pay the money back so another Morgan could be helped. He was picked up by the
shipper at the New Holland auction on Sept. 8th, 2008 after being vetted and then brought to
New Hampshire to my home on Sept 9th, 2008. My husband and I chose to call
him "Caribbean Jack".
Upon arrival at my home, Jack was tired, dirty, and thin and seemed very depressed. He
also arrived with road shoes still on, some nails barely still holding, his feet were so
overgrown and tiny that he looked like he was walking on stilts. The day after he arrived I
set about the task of bathing him, brushing him, and the task of adding weight to him as well
as getting the farrier out to remove the shoes and start trimming his feet back. His diet here
consisted of free choice 2nd cut hay, 2 quarts of grain mixed with soaked alfalfa cubes,
haystretcher, corn oil, bran flakes, electrolytes and an Omega 3 supplement. Jack has gained
back almost all of his weight now almost 2 months since he has come to live with us, his
farrier also now has his feet to a respectable length and now it is just a matter of time while
the contracted heels heal, he is barefoot and loving it. He never got sick during his
quarantine time other than a little runny nose and some drooling, he does have to wear a
cribbing collar due to his bad habit of windsucking, and his ankles have calcifiactions, but
they don't seem to bother him. The vet estimates his age at 16-17 yrs old a little over the
original thought of 10 but we don't care we love him anyway! The haunted, depressed look
in his eyes when he arrived is now gone, he has learned that he is not just a tool, that it's ok
to want attention and just be a horse. My 17 yr old Morgan mare and he are fast friends, and
he will follow her where ever she leads. His first time under saddle here went well; he was
tacked up with an English saddle and a bitless bridle and taken on a nice quiet trail ride
through the woods behind my home. I don't know his history, I don't know if he was just a
harness horse who accepts being ridden, or if he was ridden before, but he was so well
behaved on that ride and others that have followed. Jack has a permanent home with my
husband and me to live out the rest of his days spoiled and pampered. He will be forever
safe, forever loved and forever Morgan.
