Have you been to Forks?
Leave your comments here so all Twilight Fans can see them
From the lens Forks, Washington Home of "Twilight" Vampires.
I hope you enjoyed the tour, and would love to hear your comments. The release of Eclipse was exciting, and the Twilight Fans going to Forks has increased each year. Don't forget to get your Fan's guide to Forks and La Push so you will know all the best places if you are going to this years Stephanie Meyer Days which is Bella's Birthday Bash.
There is a lot to do in this beautiful area.

- Some girlfriends & I went to Forks in Jan 2010 & had a FANTASTIC time. It's gorgeous country & everyone we met was incredibly friendly. A bunch of us are going back this Nov for the premiere of the last movie in the trilogy. We're so excited! Last time we stayed at "The Cullen House" (The Miller Tree Inn) and this time will be at the Jacob Black House. It's going to be so much fun!

- What fun that the town has embraced the novel for its fans! Did you know that the Quileute actually do have a wolf legend? I always assumed that is where Stephanie Meyers got her idea from. - First thank you for all the tidbits but some of your information on the books is incorrect. Bella never bought a prom dress. Her prom dress was borrowed by Alice. It was Angela and Jessica that purchaed dresses in Port Angeles. Also, Bella was born in Forks, WA and as an infant moved to AZ so the questions What city is Bella originally from? should include Forks on there. We loved Forks prior to the Twilight books and are making another trek to that area soon and look forward to seeing the Twilight additions but I also hope it has not ruined the town.

Mar 12, 2011 @ 1:03 pm | delete
- Moli- yes a tour costs. See the picture above with the La Push Treaty Line...there is a link there for the tour. Not sure what it costs today. The other thing to do would be to go to the Chamber of Commerce at the end of the main road on the right hand side first. They have maps....and you can use this for a self-guided tour. The thing to keep in mind is some of the locals aren't into having their town turned into a Twilight maven, but others will be very helpful.
You can take pictures, and you absolutely have to go into the Twilight store on the corner..just going in there is amazing....it's huge! Bella's house is the hardest to find, so get good directions.

- My daughter and myself drove to Forks from Colorado. We were very excited to experience the Twilight tours and the town. The town of Forks definately has alot of opportunity to embrace the film and make alot of money.. They seem to be resentful, and tired of the great savior to there little town. Beautiful area but the locals need to embrace it or shut all the Twilight theme stores down. There is alot of marketing they could be doing but seem to be angry and bitter over the one thing they have going for them.

-
-

Jan 3, 2011 @ 1:24 pm | delete
- Julie- I hear you. Some of the people we talked to loved the idea, and some really hated it. If you went to the chamber they embrace Twilight as it has helped the town stay alive. I met many people that were very helpful on our tour, but like you said some aren't. I hope you had a good time, even with some of the negative attitudes you encountered.

- This part of the country is absolutely gorgeous, and worth visiting whether you're a Twilight fan or not. And having driven the road from Port Angeles to Forks, I can confirm that Edward must be one heck of a good driver if he driving really fast. The road winds all over the place. If I tried driving like that my car would have ended up in Lake Crescent or smashed into the rocks! Definitely visit this beautiful place if you have a chance.

- Yes, the movie wasn't filmed in Forks....and during our trip we were going to the school where the movie was made, but missed it. Thank you so much for your comment..every little bit adds to the experience :)

- Actually parts of Twilight were filmed in Washington. Kalama, Washington to be exact. I am the Business teacher at Kalama High School (exit 30 on I-5) and several parts of the movie were filmed here at our school. We also had several students in the movie as extras. The actual parking lot, school building, walkways, grass courtyard, walk to the woods, batting cages, and hospital scenes were all filmed right here in Kalama. The hospital scene was actually contructed in our wrestling room. And we have one piece of memorabilia that was left behind by the film crew out back on our weight room. The Cultural Diversity sign that was in the movie. We will soon have an information and souvenir page off of our school website (www.kalama.k12.wa.us) soon! So look forward to checking that out. If you feel so inclined stop by, get your picture taken in the parking lot in front of the school building that Bella and Edward actually hung out and Bella almost got killed in!

- Mysticmama- yes, I was shocked at how these books have taken this area by storm. In many ways it is good for the economy of th3e area, in other ways it has spoiled a lovely area with so many tourists...a mixed bag I would say :)
Boshemia- The movie was actually filmed in Oregon....for some reason they decided not to film it in WA. Oregon has no sales tax, and some say that was 1 reason. Economics was absolutely up there in the reasoning. The whole area is beautiful :)

- I'm not a big fan of the books, but when I was watching the movie with my kids I fell in love with the landscape. It is so beautiful. I've always been a Colorado girl, and it is hard for me to imagine living anywhere else but the movie had some of the most beautiful scenery I had ever seen!
