ANDY'S New Book - "Thoughts From the Indie Frontlines"
ANDY TANAS - New Book -
"Thoughts From the Indie Frontlines"
Due Out December 2007
"If all goes well, my book should be available next month. "Thoughts From the Indie Frontlines" is a combination handbook-guide to what it's like being an indie artist these days and a biography of my sordid life and times as a "rock star" in the 70's and 80's. There's an article with my thoughts on the thirtieth anniversary of the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash at Southern Fried Magazine, There's a few excerpts from the book as well. Check it out."

Andy Tanas Live at Fox Music Company
Photos From Live In-Store Performance 10-20-2007
the Andy Tanas Show at Fox Music Company was an intimate and entertaining performance. The show started with a broken guitar string,........I mean straight out of the case, Andy and the crowd laughed it off, while Andy changed his string he regaled us with some Andyisms, thoughts and insights that are Andy. Musically the show started with Guns and Roses which was a real crowd pleaser. Andy played us a few tracks from "Songs from the New South" some of his new material and a mix of covers of such artists as John Prine, Warren Zevon, Robert Johnson and Ratt to name a few. Woven through the plaid of genres, Andy entertained us with some stories, hometown stories, Rock n Roll stories and if you know Andy, he's a great story teller. After the show Andy Signed the usual memorabilia, sold autographed copies of "Songs of the New South" then he just hung out with us, answered questions..... or was it told some more stories. A true entertainer! Thanks Andy!

ANDY TANAS in the 70's
Andys Bio
In 1975 Andy toured as part of an audio crew with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, Outlaws, Wet Willy, Charlie Daniels, Climax Blues Band, Status Quo, Peter Frampton, .38 Special, Jerry Lee Lewis and many others. After hearing some of Andy's material, Gary Rossington and Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynryd encouraged him to give up the audio end and pursue playing and songwriting more seriously. In 1977, he joined Black Oak Arkansas as a bassist, vocalist and songwriter. Black Oak signed with Capricorn Records and released "Race With The Devil" in 1977 and "I'd Rather Be Sailing" in 1978. Two songs of Andy's appeared on "I'd Rather Be Sailing": You Keep Me Waiting and Innocent Eyes. Constant touring kept him busy until January of 1980 when the band disbanded. At that point the line-up included a fifteen year old guitar whiz named Shawn Lane.

ANDY TANAS In the 80's
Andy Tanas
In 1980, Andy relocated to Los Angeles and worked with various local bands including Legs Diamond, Shandra Beri, Marcus Malone, Chuck Gerard, Michael Monarch and Jon Hyde of Detective as well as others. Local bands and recording sessions kept him busy off and on until 1983.He was offered the bassist/background vocalist slot with Swiss hardrocking outfit Krokus in 1984. He was in four videos including the MTV concert video that year, toured the U.S., Canada, South America and Europe until leaving the band in 1985 because of direction differences.
Andy released a four song EP in 1989 that he wrote, produced and financed, which received good reviews as well as airplay on college radio, mostly in the southeast. It was a mix of hard rock with a lot of country influence that for 1989 was a little ahead of its time.

Sign up and make a lens todayYou have been invited to join a select group of people who are passionate about a big idea. The big idea might be fundraising for juvenile diabetes, pointing to your favorite travel guidebooks and destinations, sharing your endorsements of and personal views on a political candidate, talking about the best cookbooks for sale online, or recommending topnotch refrigerators, washing machines, cars and cameras. Squidoo makes it easy for you to share what you know in a fast and impactful way.
What Is Squidoo?
Squidoo is a co-op of everyday experts and enthusiasts, like you, who build single pages (called "lenses") on topics they care about. A Squidoo lens contains links to products for sale, to reviews, to pictures, to videos, to RSS feeds, and to blogs. Every time you create a lens, you are contributing to a human index of the best stuff on a given topic. Not only that, but every lens also generates royalty income. Royalties from affiliate income (like a Netflix membership, an Amazon sale, an eBay auction...) as well as from ad revenue. You can send your royalties wherever you want--your favorite charity, your daughter's college fund, your own pocket.
What Do I Do Now?
Already, tens of thousands of people are building lenses on Squidoo. But these are still early days, when the people who act first, act loudest. So we're inviting you to be part of our team and join us in spreading the word about our organization and ideas and services. Take 5 minutes to build an official SquidBids lens. Show it off. Help us make a difference. (And have some fun along the way). We thank you for your enthusiasm and your efforts.

ANDY TANAS in the 90's
Andy Tanas
In 1991, Andy formed The Rompers, a rock-country band that showcased his material and vocal style. They played all over the L.A. and Orange County area and opened for Commander Cody, Mark Collie and others until he relocated back to Memphis in May of 1993.In 1995 Andy completed an eight song demo that caught the attention of some labels and publishing companies in Nashville. Although it was crudely recorded, the vocal style and songwriting stood out enough that they asked for more songs.
In 1997 he released "Memphis Boy vs The Eight Track From Hell". A hybrid mix of country and rock with different subject matter. This lead to meeting Stu Baker with Haydens Ferry Records in Arizona. He was invited to be on the "Jukebox Cantina" compilation with fourteen other artists including The Ignitors, Dan Israel, Grievous Angels and Ronnie Glover. "Jukebox Cantina" charted well and received favorable reviews worldwide giving Andy notice for his cut You Gotta Love Her.
In 1998 he started production on "Songs From The New South" using Cody Dickinson from North Mississippi All Stars and Robert Barnett from Big Ass Truck on drums, Bryan Ward from Bonepony on mandolin, and Gretchen Priest on violin/fiddle. Veteran engineer Voytek Kochanek, whos worked with Ozzy, Steve Vai, and Peter Frampton, recorded and co-produced. ANDY TANAS - FingerWeights Review
Read What Andy Has to Say About FingerWeights
FingerWeights are an ergonomically engineered weight system for the fingers. FingerWeights strengthen and condition the muscles and tendons in the fingers, hands, wrists, and forearms. FingerWeights benefit both the flexor and extensor muscles (the tiny muscles that open and close the fingers).Read Andys FingerWeight review...........
"I have the prestigious honor of being known as an aging rocker. I'm very cool with this and try and wear this moniker proudly.
I've seen many attempts and failures at so called ways to help you become a better player. Books, videos, gadgets%u2026you name it%u2026I've seen it. Almost all of these have faded into oblivion somewhere. So you can imagine my skepticism when I was asked to try Finger Weights.
I started doing a solo acoustic act a few years ago and noticed that my fingers were really tired by the end of the night. Three and four hours with only one break will do that to you. Plus, I'm doing something a bit more eclectic than your basic acoustic stuff. My "Southern Gothic" approach uses lots of chord variations and positioning that require a lot of effort on my part.
When the people at FingerWeights approached me about trying their product, I withheld judgment but identified with the concept, because I've been a huge fan of working out for over twenty years now. For me, the worst that could happen is that it doesn't work.
I received my package, read the instructions and watched the DVD that came with it. I opted for position B, because the fingertips were my trouble areas. Right off, I was impressed with the design and how comfortable they were. I used two weight increments and practiced for about forty-five minutes a day for four days before my next show. Let me say, without a doubt, it works. Not just a slight difference in my stamina and playing either. Two hours with no break goes by much easier. I haven't felt tired or beat up at the end of the night since I've been using them. Not only do they work%u2026they make sense."
