Fractional Airplane Information
Owning a private jet is a very expensive proposition regardless of one's wealth. A fractional airplane is another form of ownership one may utilize to realize the most luxurious of dreams. In the simplest of definitions, fractional ownership is using a third-party company to buy an aircraft (and service it) with a number of other owners. Thus splitting the cost. While a definite option, a fractional airplane does have two distinctive categories, which changes the nature of the usage of the aircraft- jet or airplane (propeller plane).
Jet Ownership

With a fractional jet ownership one gets the use of an entire fleet. The share of an aircraft in a fractional jet program that portion of ownership is merely a ticket to the dance. Should that particular aircraft not be available, a similar (or possibly better/bigger) aircraft will be substituted. Additionally, the jets are flown by highly experienced company pilots with some fractional airplane companies stating their pilots have over 7,000 hour flight time on average.
Airplane (Prop Plane) Ownership

With a fractional prop plane ownership one gets only the use of the particular plane one bought. This can cause difficulty if the plane had been previously reserved for another owner. Weekends and holidays would be high usage times. However, for aviation enthusiasts one gets to pilot their own plane and split the costs of maintenance, hangers, insurance, taxes, etc. with a pool of fractional airplane owners.
