Frank Peretti Books and Biography - Christianity, Spirituality, Mystery, Suspense Discover The Awesome Peretti Writing Style

Frank Peretti writes novels which are spellbinding. These are incredible stories which epitomize the struggle between Believers and the Devil in these last days. Peretti reveals the Devil to be the Beast he really is, not a figment of someone's imagination. No one lays out the spiritual battle better than Peretti.

His stories mix fictional characters with biblical spiritual fallen angels know as demons. He gives readers a very animated story line combined with unique and descriptive ways the humans and spirits interact within their respective worlds. He introduces the personalities of territorial dark spirits (also mentioned in the Bible) and envelopes readers in suspenseful and harrowing advertures, with emphasis on how the good angels have to fight against the demons on behalf of their human believer friends.

People in the stories never see the invisible forces, but the reader sees them introduced into the plots and shows how they work their evil plans out. Peretti does a magnificent job of describing these loathsome creatures.

If you are not already familiar with Frank Peretti's writing and story telling skill, then I suggest you might start with his book entitled, This Present Darkness. It is a way to understand how many Christian believers look at the world, but perhaps better explained in story form from Peretti's unique perspective. If you love great mystery novels then many of Frank Peretti's books will be a good read for you. He is such a great author that many people who were not believers became believers after reading the first 3 novels.

As his novels have been widely sold and read throughout Evangelical, Charismatic and Pentecostal churches, Peretti's fiction has excited the imaginations of pastors and non-clergy alike on the subject of spiritual warfare. Michael Maudlin reports that some readers have been so enthused they have declared that This Present Darkness is the best book ever written after the Bible.

Frank Peretti, whose books have sold millions of copies, is the author of the international bestsellers The Oath and This Present Darkness, as well as numerous children's books. The Oath (1995) has sold more than 860,000 copies and was awarded the 1996 ECPA Gold Medallion Award for best fiction. Though he is noted as an award-winning fiction writer, his first non-fiction work, The Wounded Spirit, released October 2000, and the adaptation of this best-selling title, No More Bullies released in May of 2003.

Here I will list popular books by Frank Peretti from as many sources as I can find here on Squidoo. You will be able to leave your comments about how you have enjoyed Frank's unique stories. I was deeply affected by reading "This Present Darkness". This Present Darkness was a very good book. The story was so well written that I could not put it down. Every free minute I could squeeze out, I would use it to read this book. This book was put together very well. It is a very readable book. It was very easy to follow. He was so descriptive of some of the characters in this book (angels and evil spirits) that I could literally picture the characters in my head.

I would recommend this book to many. Peretti has a talent unmatched for the type of stories he has written. Amazingly descriptive without being overly wordy. What did you think of it?

The House Plus DVD Set - A mind-bending supernatural thriller from the creators of "This Present Darkness" and "Showdown." This is a good combination, and this story is compelling, keeping you glued to it until it concludes, and it is not an easy one to guess. Peretti has that special story telling capacity that few authors have.

Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker - two of the most acclaimed writers of supernatural thrillers - have joined forces for the first time to craft a story unlike any you've ever read. Enter "House" - where you'll find yourself thrown into a killer's deadly game in which the only way to win is to lose...and the only way out is in.

The stakes of the game become clear when a tin can is tossed into the house with rules scrawled on it. Rules that only a madman - or worse - could have written. Rules that make no sense yet must be followed. "One game. Seven players. Three rules. Game ends at dawn."

Tattered Cover Book Store Historic LoDo has many books available including many Frank Peretti Books and Novels. Give Tattered Cover a visit and you will love their store. In fact, I have created a nice new webpage advertising their bookstore and featuring John Grisham Books and Novels.

Frank Peretti was quoted as saying, "Evolution teaches from goo to you by way of the zoo!" - This quote demonstrates Peretti's no nonsense way of teaching. He is an excellent teacher as well as writer. This can be seen very evidently by watching THE CHAIR which appears in the video section below.

I love Peretti, Dekker, Downs and James as interesting Christians writing compelling fiction that includes action, suspense, mystery and spirituality. My favorite Peretti book is The Oath, although I hated it the first time I read it and learned to appreciate it the 2nd time around. He was my first real challenge to be aware of (and prepared for) spiritual warfare.

I thoroughly enjoy the way in which he writes. Its never boring and always has me on the edge of my seat from the first chapter. He has a way of explaining things so well that you are there watching the entire scene unfold. Great detail, and I am in the process of reading every single one of them. When I get through all of them, I hope he has another one ready to go. This man is one of the greatest writers. Theres only been one other author who has kept me as spellbound as Frank Peretti. I wish him many more books!

Biography of Frank Peretti

Frank Edward Peretti (born January 13, 1951 in Lethbridge, Alberta) is a best-selling contemporary evangelical Christian fiction novelist with more than twelve million copies of his work in print. Best known for his supernatural thriller titles This Present Darkness and The Oath, he primarily focuses on Christian topics, especially those surrounding spiritual warfare. Born in Canada and raised in Seattle, Washington, Peretti has held ministry credentials with the Assemblies of God and now lives in northern Idaho with his wife Barbara. Frank also plays the banjo in a bluegrass band called Northern Cross. In 2004, Peretti was inducted into the Indiana Wesleyan University Society of World Changers and presented with an honorary doctorate of humane letters.

This Present Darkness, released in 1986, remained on the Christian Booksellers Association's top ten best-sellers list for over 150 consecutive weeks; it told the story of a demonic struggle with the heavenly hosts for control of a small town. This Present Darkness Its sequel, Piercing the Darkness, was also well-received, and, together, the two books have sold more than 3.5 million copies to date. He continued the children's series that The Door in the Dragon's Throat began during the late 80s, and also worked on Prophet, which he released in 1992. Prophet combined Peretti's now-signature focus on the spiritual realm with the issue of abortion.

Peretti reportedly felt bad about his early books' success and insisted that he had not yet developed his craft as a writer sufficiently. He began working with secular publishers and editors in an attempt to improve his writing. The result, The Oath, published in 1995, has sold more than one million copies worldwide and was the recipient of the 1996 ECPA Gold Medallion Book Award for Best Fiction. The Oath left behind the world of angels and demons developed in his previous books but certainly didn't abandon the fantastic; the story centers around the siege of a fictional Washington mining town held by a vicious dragon.

In the mid-90s, Peretti picked up his children's series, the Cooper Kids Adventure series, publishing four more titles. He also wrote The Visitation, a story of a small wheat town in eastern Washington visited by a man who claims to be a Jesus reincarnate. The Visitation was released in 1999.

The turn of the millennium saw Peretti's departure from writing his popular novels. He dwellt on the subject of bullying in his non-fiction titles No More Victims (2001) and No More Bullies (2003), and in his 2000 autobiographical story of childhood struggles with physical disfigurement and an examination of how society emotionally abuses and scars children, The Wounded Spirit. He also wrote Hangman's Curse and Nightmare Academy, the only two books in the short-lived Veritas Project series for teenagers, which sold more than 500,000 copies according to Thomas Nelson Publishers.

Peretti's first novel after 2000 was the thriller, Monster. Starting with the legend of Bigfoot it is about a predator that terrorizes the woods of northern Idaho. The book explores issues surrounding the "survival of the fittest" and raises objections to evolution.

House was released in April 2006 and co-authored by Peretti with fellow supernatural author Ted Dekker. This latest novel follows in the footsteps of his 1990s works in its horror-based nature, but also incorporates the spiritual elements of his Darkness books.

Tilly was adapted into a short forty minute film by a pro-life group, Love Life America in 2002 and shown on both PAX TV and briefly on the EWTN show Defending Life before being released on DVD. Directed by Stephen Vidano and produced by IMS Productions.

Later, 2002 saw a movie based on Hangman's Curse in which Frank Peretti had a small role as an eccentric professor. It had a limited release in theaters but appears to have been successful enough to encourage film producers to continue developing Peretti's books into films. The Visitation was also made into a film by Twentieth Century Fox. House was released in select theaters on November 7, 2008.

Frank Peretti has received positive praise from many Christian book reviews, his books being heralded as telling entertaining stories with complex interwoven plots.
