Every Child Deserves a Santa Letter

Children love to write letters to Santa.  Getting a letter back is something they will never forget.

Not everyone can afford to use one of the specialty Santa Letter services so I created this lens so parents could use the templates as guides.  You should be able to crank out a wonderful letter without much effort.

While you can copy the letters verbatim, the letter will have much more meaning to your child if you customize it with as much detail as you can.  Remember that Santa will know everything about them.  Point out a few things the child did wrong during the year but list the good things and compliment them.  Let them know their good actions are noticed and appreciated.

You can get a rubber stamp from a craft store and make your own North Pole postmark.

Use high grade holiday stationary for your letter and a decorative envelope.

I don't have a voice script but there is a service that offers to have Santa call your child.  I'm sure you could make up your own script and find someone with a Santa like voice to do this for you.  If not, you can buy a Santa call here.

Ideas for Santa Letters Being Written From Scratch

The more details the better

Here are just a few ideas for you to use when composing your Santa letter.

1) Tell the child how pleased Santa is to receive a letter from them.

2) Tell the child that Santa knows they have been good this year and he is very proud of them. Provide specific examples of something good the child did during the year.

3) Tell the child about the reindeer, the elves and how the weather is at the North Pole.

4) Explain to the child that Santa has a big crystal snow ball that tells him who is naughty and who is nice.

5) What type of cookies or snacks that Santa likes best.

6) How Santa finds children who have moved. (Best if you have moved recently)

7) Explain how "Christmas Magic" helps Santa fit down chimneys, allows Santa to deliver all the toys in one night, aids reindeer in flying, etc.

Sample Santa Letter #1

Dear *Child's Name*,

Merry Christmas! Thank you for your letter. I really enjoy reading letters from children all over the world.

I have been looking at my list of Naughty and Nice boys and girls and see that you're at the top of the Nice list, and so is your *brother and/or sister & name of sibling/s*. I also hear from your teacher *name of favorite teacher* that you've also been doing well in school. I'm very proud of you for being such a good *boy/girl*.

Rudolph and I are looking forward to visiting your home in *Name of Hometown* on Christmas Eve. The elves have been very busy this year making toys for children all around the world. I know that you would really like me to bring you a *Name of Toy Child Wants*. I will do my best. Santa has many children who ask for toys each year, and I always try to bring something you'll like. My favorite part of Christmas is just being able to make so many kids happy and share the gifts the elves have worked on all year because sharing is what makes Christmas so special.

*Name of Hometown* is one of my first stops this year, so be sure to go to bed early because my magic only works when everyone is asleep. Please don't forget to leave out some cookies and milk for me and some carrots for the reindeer! We work up quite an appetite delivering so many toys all around the world.

Have a very merry Christmas!

Love,
Santa

Sample Santa Letter #2

Dear *Child's Name*,

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas! I've been making my list and checking it twice, and I found out that you are on the list of *child's gender* who have been nice this year. *List something the child did good during the year* I'm very proud of you.

We have been very busy at the North Pole getting ready for Christmas. Mrs. Claus has been baking cookies, the reindeer have been practicing their flying, and the elves are building lots of toys. I know that you want a *Name of Toy Child Wants* and I'll do my best to bring you something that you'll really like.

I'm looking forward to visiting your home in *Name of Hometown* on Christmas Eve and visiting you and Mom, Dad and *Name of Sibling or Pet*. Rudolph is particularly excited that he will be able to see *Name of Sibling or Pet* when we visit. Be sure to go to bed early on Christmas Eve because the reindeer can only stop at houses where the good little boys and girls are already asleep. And don't forget to leave out some carrots for the reindeer and some cookies and milk for me because we get hungry delivering so many toys all around the world.

Have a very merry Christmas!

Sample Santa Letter #3

Dear *Child's Name*,

Merry Christmas! The elves, reindeer and I are very busy getting ready for Christmas Eve. I'm really excited that I'm going to be coming to visit your home in *Name of Hometown*.

Have you been a good *boy/girl* this year? I've been making a list and checking it twice, and it says that you haven't been naughty, but have been very nice. *List something the child did good during the year* I'm very proud of you. Santa Claus likes bringing toys to the children who listen to their parents, are polite to other people, and do their best in school.

Mrs. Claus has been baking Christmas cookies for all the elves so they have plenty of energy to build lots of toys. My head elf Didi told me that you want a *Name of Toy Child Wants* for Christmas, and I'm going to do my best to bring you that or something else that you will really enjoy.

Rudolph and all the reindeer are very happy that we're going to be bringing you some presents this year. Rudolph says he would really like it if you would leave out some carrots and cookies for us before you go to bed on Christmas Eve because we all get hungry delivering so many toys all around the world.

Have a very merry Christmas!

P.S. I'm glad you *and Sibling/s Name/s* are enjoying your new *little brother/sister* and being such a big help to your parents.

Sample Baby's First Christmas Letter

Dear Baby *Child's Name*,

Merry First Christmas! I've been making my list and checking it twice, and I discovered that you were new on the list of nice little *boys or girls* this year.

I know your parents are very happy to have you as the newest member of the family. They love you very much.

The reindeer, Mrs. Claus and I all look forward to bringing you lots of joy at Christmas for many years. This year your parents asked me to bring you a new baby rattle, and I promise to do my best to deliver it. But you have to promise to go to sleep without any fuss on Christmas Eve so the reindeer and I can come to visit. *Name of Hometown* is one of my first stops, so you have to go to sleep early without making your parents rock you in your swing and play your favorite baby music.

I know your new family is thrilled to have you spending this holiday season with them, and the reindeer and I are excited that we'll be able to visit you on your very first Christmas.

Welcome to the world and have a very merry Christmas!

Love,
Santa

Sample Santa Letter for a Cat, Dog or Other Pet

This letter will need modified quite a bit

Dear *Pet's Name*,

Ho! Ho! Ho! I've been making my list and checking it twice, and *Owner's Name or Name of Vet* told me that you've been very naughty this year. I can't believe what a bad *cat/dog/type of pet* you've been!

I heard that you kicked *Other Pet's Name or Child's name* out of the bed and hiss at him all the time. *Pet's Name*, I'm shocked!

Rudolph wants you to know that you and *Other Pet's Name or Child's name* need to get along better. Your owner thinks you're kind of naughty, but you're so cute that *he/she* loves you anyway.

Rudolph is in charge of all gifts for good pets, and he says he'll have to think about whether you deserve *present pet would enjoy*. He has a very strict policy on ***catnip for cats, and doesn't allow any underage cats to have certain gifts***. CHANGE or REMOVE for dog or other pets.

Please be sure to be quiet when we arrive on Christmas Eve and tell all the pets in your *Name of Hometown* neighborhood not to bark, meow, hiss, or squawk when they hear the sleigh bells because we don't want to wake all the humans. See you soon!

Love,
Santa Claus, Rudolph and all the reindeer
