So you have started a home based or online business, good for you! Using Targeted Keywords

The object here is to get targeted traffic to your website in order for you to make a sale, commission, or a referral. We are not interested in sending 10,000 visitors to your website if none of them take action. So we will be focusing on targeted traffic.

The first step is to create a keyword phrase list. If you don't know what a keyword is, Google it and learn. You can use any free keyword tool that you like. Now, think about what you would search for to find your website? What words would you type into Google's search box to find your website? That is your first keyword. Now build on one keyword to create a keyword list.

After you have a keyword list, go to Google and insert each of your keywords into the search box. You will want to put parentheses around your keyword before searching, "example keyword". The reason why we do this is to find the competition for that keyword. After you search you will notice that Google will post the result. It will look like this: Results 1 - 10 of 50,000. You want the competition number to be under 50,000. Do this for each of your keyword or keyword phrased.

Now that we have the hard part out of the way, let's start having some fun! Now take one of your keywords and do the following:
1. Write and submit an article to one of the many free online articles directories using your keyword and the title.
2. Create a Squidoo lens using your keyword as the title.
3. Create a blog and upload your article as a post.
4. Use Twitter, Facebook and Myspace to share your articles with others.
