Eulogies can set a mood
A eulogy is a tribute. Your loved one had a unique personality, and the eulogy you deliver should reflect that. You must also take your audience in to account. For example, the deceased may have had a off beat sense of humor, but a tribute in that vein may or may not be appropriate in front of grieving family. Alternately, you may have had a strictly professional relationship with the deceased and your speech should reflect that. These free sample eulogies can help you write a compelling eulogy.
Traditional
Most eulogies in are of the traditional variety. Often a family member or close friend of the family is delivering the tribute. They involve anecdotes and memories shared, expressions of love and loss, and usually appropriate readings of poetry, bible verses and quotations. These can be very moving and express your feelings for you. An excellent source of such readings is "Do not stand at my grave and weep."
Humor
Many people do not wish to be remembered with tears and sadness. They would prefer their memorial to be a celebration of their lives. For some, a humerous eulogy is the most appropriate, relating amusing incidents and jokes. These can still be very touching and sincere. In the following outrageous eulogy John Cleese remembers his friend and fellow member of Monty Python in the only way that the comedian would have appreciated.
A Eulogy for a Business Associate
Writing a eulogy for a business associate is usually less sentimental than one written for a family member or close friend. They are invariably respectful, highlighting accomplishments and the positive qualities that the deceased was known for. Less well know deeds can be referenced for example, to enlighten the audience about the life of the subject. You can write of the person's strength, compassion, ingenuity and integrity and stay within the realm of professionalism.
These are only a few examples
You will find hundreds of poems, readings and examples in "Do not stand at my grave and weep." It is full of helpful information and comforting words to make writing a eulogy a journey of fond remembrance instead of chore.
