Freeskiing

Freeskiing is one of the newest and fastest growing EXTREME sports out there. It all began back in 1998, has grown into one of the largest communities of extreme athletes, and is beginning to receive more main stream publicity such as X-Games, Dew Tour, and even the Today Show! What is Freeskiing? For those whom have never heard of this novel sport, it is most comparable to snowboarding. Skiers such as Tanner Hall, Simon Dumont, Pep Fujas, JP Auclair, and many others launch themselves off of enormous jumps, halfpipes, cliffs, and grind rails, or even hand railings around town! These skiers spin, flip, rotate various axises, and grab their skis in creative and radical ways! With the help of twin tip skis, skis with tips both on the tail and nose of the ski, skiers can both take-off, land, and even just cruise around backwards! Unlike racing, cross country, or any other type of skiing, you can get more creative as there are no rules or limitations of what you can maneuver around in the air or on rails! As more ski resorts build better jumps and rails in their terrain parks, and with all the cliffs, cornices, and other natural terrain to jump off of, freeskiing is more accessible and the possibilities are endless Unlike other areas of skiing, freeskiing is not only limited to ski resorts, but can take place in your backyard, city, or even any surrounding mountains nearby, with the help of snowmobiles, snow shoes, snow cats, helicopters, or the old fashioned way- hiking! So get off your computer, buy some twin tips, get the crew together, and enjoy the most enjoyable and thrilling sport out there! GET OUT AND SHRED!
