Should Fried Chicken Be Eaten With A Fork Or With Your Fingers?

South or North? Fingers or Fork?
I'm from the South. I live in the North.
When I was growing up my mama would fix us fried chicken two or three times a week. I loved it. Oh my goodness it was good.
I never saw a fork when I ate fried chicken. It was the best.
Then I moved up North.
I am older now, we only splurge once in awhile to have Fried Chicken, but now there are forks on the table.
It seems to be an age old battle.
My husband hates getting his hands dirty with food. He is a very tidy eater. I really am not bothered by it. I just like my chicken crispy.
How do you feel about this? Should fried chicken be eaten with your fingers or a fork?
Eating Chicken With Your Fingers

Eating Chicken With A Fork

Maybe It Doesn't Matter To You, But It Bugs Me.
Which is it? Fork or Fingers?
Which do you prefer, eating your fried chicken with fingers or fork?

Both. When I am alone - its fingers. When I have company - its fork and knives.

Well, I haven't had fried chicken for awhile but I am betting I start with a fork but switch to my fingers in order to avoid leaving any delicious bids of chicken behind!

Forget the fork, Just give me the chicken
poddys says:
For me it much depends on how well the chicken is cooked, for instance does it fall off the bone or do I have to pick it up and chew it off. Then also is it greasy, because the greasier it is, the more likely I am to eat it with a fork.

Definitely the fingers. The wing is my favorite piece and it is impossible to eat it with a fork.

- Fingers all the way. We don't really eat fried foods any more but that makes it even more special when we do. Fried Chicken has to be eaten with the fingers....doesn't it? It certainly tastes better that way. Delicious lens finger licking good.

- I haven't had fried chicken in a couple of years, it's not the healthiest of foods, and I definitely avoid the KFC locations. I do know the next time I have the opportunity to eat some good fried chicken though, it's going to taste really good.

- You have to go up Nawth, 'fo this to be an issue! In SC we understand that it's appropriate for a southern gentleman or lady to enjoy fried chicken, wings and ribs with our fingers... 'n then we lick 'em! It's a culinary atrocity to wipe finger lickin' good off with a napkin! Yawl come back now... you heah!

- The requirement of a fork has increased as I get older. (Not that I am admitting to that or anything.) Fried chicken and french fries may be the last finger foods...
