The Joy of Toys

We can all relate to the bittersweet story of Puff the magic dragon, where Puff's little boy playmate grows up and loses interest in the imaginary adventures of childhood and leaves Puff alone and depressed.

As we grow up, we leave our childhood toys behind and forget about them, until we have children of our own. Then, we begin to remember our precious toys, and all the fun we had playing with them when we were very young. Often, we wish we could find them or get them back, so that we could share those same delightful toys with our own children. But,  they have long since been lost, discarded, or sold at some yard sale many years ago.

I believe that toys are timeless treasures that should never be lost or abandoned, but rather passed on to another child or even a collector, who will love them and delight in playing with them.  This is what inspires me to rescue and refurbish lost and abandoned toys.

Among my items you might find vintage toys from long ago, dolls that have been cleaned up and given a new wardrobe and accessories, or a nice mixture of toys that I have turned into a playset. Regardless of what you are looking for, you are very likely to find a great toy or playset that needs a new home; and that's sure to become a favorite plaything for any child.

As I work with many of the toys, I find myself falling in love with some of them, and recapturing memories from my own past. Sometimes, putting them up for sale, and letting them go is difficult. I feel almost like a "foster mom"; but alas, I am sure there are many more out there who need my time and attention so I must send them on their way.

Piggy Banks Delight!

Happy Childhood Memories

When I was a wee child, someone gave me a tiny little pink ceramic pig with a coin slot to save my money in. I loved to put the pennies I acquired from relatives and the ones I found when "grown ups" dropped them on the ground in that little piggy bank until it was full. Then, I would shake them all out, and run down to the corner store and fill up on my favorite things---comic books, oatmeal cookies and penny candy. Opening up the bottom on that little bank and shaking all those coins out made me feel like I was rich.

One day, I dropped my precious bank and broke it. After crying for a little while at the loss of my best friend, I picked up the remaining coins and promptly ran down to the 5 and dime.

I used the money to buy a brand new shiny black piggy bank. That little pink piggy bank was the best gift that anyone ever gave me, and I continue my tradition of saving my coins to this very day.

Now I have a giant ceramic piggy bank. Whenever I have loose change in my pocket, I deposit it in the piggy bank. Every year, just before Christmas, I present the piggy bank to one of my 3 grown children who have children of their own.

They are to empty the bank, and use the money to buy Christmas for their families. There is usually a couple hundred dollars of loose change in it; and they are thrilled to have the extra money at Christmastime.

After they cash in the coins, they are to return the pig to me so that I can start filling it up for next year. It's a great family tradition.

How to Find What Your are Looking for on Ebay

A much faster, easier way to Search or a Search Shortcut

Behind the Red Door you'll find millions of items never found in regular searches. We, the proud eBay Store owners, want you to have the best shopping experience available on eBay! Click on the logo above to visit my Store or click on this link to see the millions of items from all the other fine eBay Store owners.

As you probably know, Ebay has tinkered with it's search function and it just doesn't work the way it used to, which makes finding what you are looking for at a good price a little more difficult.

There is a faster, easier way to do your search that will give you a list of relevant items that match your search criteria without having to sort through all the carp.

Try this:

At the top of every Ebay page there are 4 white tabs. They say "Categories" "Motors" "Express" and "Stores".

Click on the tab that says "STORES". Then, in the little box that says "I want to buy..." type in what you are looking for. You will get a nice list of auction and store items that match your search criteria.

I do this anytime I am looking for something to buy. I find what I am looking for much easier, and often at much better prices. Enjoy!

The Story of Puff

"PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON"

Puff the Magic Dragon lived by the sea and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called HONALEE.

Little Jackie Piper loved that rascal Puff and brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff.

Oh, Puff the Magic Dragon lived by the sea and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called HONALEE, Puff the Magic Dragon lived by the sea and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called HONALEE.

Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sails, Jackie kept a look out perched on Puff's gigantic tail.

Noble Kings and princes would bow whene'er they came, pirate ships would lower their flag when Puff roared out his name.

Oh, Puff the Magic Dragon lived by the sea, and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called HONALEE. Puff the Magic Dragon lived by the sea and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called HONALEE.

A dragon lives forever, but not so little boys; painted wings and giant's rings make way for other toys.

One grey night it happened Jackie Piper came no more and Puff that Mighty Dragon, he ceased his fearless roar.

His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain, Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane.

Without his life-long friend, Puff could not be brave so, Puff that Mighty Dragon sadly slipped into his cave.

Oh, Puff the Magic Dragon lived by the sea and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called HONALEE, Puff the Magic Dragon lived by the sea and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called HONALEE

When my kids outgrew their toys, I packed away their favorites. Someday they will pass them on...
