The Victorian Stamps Of Great Britain

In May 1840 the world's first postage stamp - the Penny Black - was issued in Great Britain. Featuring a profile of Queen Victoria, Britain never names itself on her stamps, relying on a picture of the reining monarch instead.

During the victorian era - ignoring watermark and other technical differences - just 82 different postage stamp values and designs were put in to use. The aim of this lens is to pass on a little knowledge about them.
