Gabbeh Rugs have become among the top 10 selling Persian Rugs. Traditionally a Gabbeh was a unclipped shaggy sleeping rug. Some of them particularly the Luri rugs had brilliant color and bold designs. Interest in them grew and finally producers in Iran most prominently Sobhe and Zollanvari began commercial production of Gabbehs among the Qashqai. Zollanvari along with American author Jim Opie established a significant market presence in the US.
Gabbehs are a significant help to the weavers in that they are popular and fast to weave allowing the women to earn a good living while staying in their villages.
