    Gail, I agree with you that in a rough economy, marketing needs to focus on existing clients. It's the most cost effective way to maintain profits. That's why I feel so strongly about text message advertising. Have you ever heard of it? It's very inexpensive and creates a way to communicate with your clients directly.

    Also, you're right that so many business owners don't understand that marketing is a must, NOT an option. Marketing is required to operate a successful business, unless you're on 5th Ave in NYC. Because text message advertising is so inexpensive, and highly effective when compared to other forms of advertising, it's a great place to start if you're not already marketing your business.
