It takes disciplin determination, fast fingers, and an even quicker mind. You have to be meticulous in your efforts and above all you need to have the desire to put the fragging aside to document well. But hey, when its all said and done you get to play some pretty sweet games and know that you helped bring a great video game product to market.

All you need to know about video game testing
Its not as easy as it sounds. First of all, keep in mind that video game testing may sound like all fun and games, but it is a real job, with real hours, real deadlines, and real bosses that will hammer on you if you do not turn in your best work.Some basic requirements.
1. The love of video games.
2. technical background with an idea of how games are designed, what key terms are used in for parts of the game and the graphics engine behind it.
(for instance, you need to know what a texture is in order to report that a certain graphic item has a missing or incorrect texture in the game)
3. Technical writing skills. You must be able to describe issues and/or problems you had with the video game in great detail. Including the circumstances leading up to it, the actual error or issues, if you were able to recreate it, time in the game you experienced it, what else was happening, and anything else that would be pertinent.
4. Just because you play your Xbox 360 until 3AM every morning doesn't mean you have what it takes to test video games. You need to be able to follow assignments, meet deadlines, and perform thorough QA on beta games and games that are already released.
5. The rewards, however, are awesome. Make some money, not going to get rich but it is your foot in the door for an actual career in video games. Keep the games you test. Bragging rights, and you get to do something that obviously interests you.
