Garmin Oregon 300 Portable GPS System
The Garmin Oregon 300 Portable GPS System is a great handheld GPS. One of the features that is really nice is the touchscreen technology. With all the cell phones and cameras on the market today with touchscreen features, it only makes sense for GPS to follow suit.
The size is something else I really like. You can carry this in your pocket, purse, briefcase, or where ever is convenient for you. It is like carrying a cell phone.
I jog and I never know how far I am really going. Having a GPS like this would be really easy to take with me. Not only will it give me my distance, it will also tell me my speed. It would work great for any sports activity like cycling, hiking, walking, kayaking, etc. And with it being waterproof, you don't have to worry about the rain.
Add the Garmin Street Map card and you can even use the Garmin Oregon 300 Portable GPS System in your car. It is small enough for you to take with you wherever you travel, business or pleasure.

I can't say enough good things about the Garmin Oregon 300! I bought it to replace my old Magellan Meridian Platinum, and haven't looked back! I use it in my 4x4 off-road and on-road, and take it on hiking and camping trips. Reliable, accurate, and good size to boot.
Favorite Features:
- Ruggedized, Waterproof
- Surprisingly good battery life, around 20 hours on regular alkaline AA's.
- Excellent resolution screen, good color reproduciton
- Built-in electronic compass, barometer
- Touch screen is very functional, I don't miss buttons at all!
- Comfortable ergonomics
- Customizable interface, sevreral view selections
- Accurate, fast acquisition times
- Downloadable Maps
Complaints-
- Only one: the screen should be brighter. Running on batteries it can be hard to see the screen in bright light. You have to turn and find the right angle against the sun. When plugged into a cigarette lighter plug in the car the screen gets about 5x brighter, making it easier to see while driving. Why can't we just choose to have it be that bright all the time if we want?
Overall, I highly recommend this GPS unit. Despite its single flaw, I would buy it again in a heartbeat!

Had a Garmin 60CSx, but wanted a unit to find Wherigo geocaches. Very happy with this GPS! Took a little getting use to since I was so familar with the 60, but now I like it better. Still learning all of the features, but this is a great unit and like the touch screen. Can't go wrong with this unit or any in the family.
p.s. Add the Street maps card from Garmin and you can use the unit to route on the road to the next geocache! *** highly recommended ***
