Who is Garth Brooks?
This popular 45 year old singer/songwriter has enjoyed tremendous success with over 123 million records sold in the United States alone. Throughout the 90's he shattered records for concert attendance and record sales.In 2001 Brooks pulled back from the music scene to deal with family issues and in 2005 made a partial comeback, selling more than 1 million CD sets with a deal he signed with WalMart.
Garth Brooks also performed for several charity causes most notably for the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, and he performed at the 80th Birthday Celebration of the Grand Ole' Oprey as well as performing in Times Square as part of the Country Music Associations Awards Show in 2005.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced in November of 2007 that Brooks was the Best Selling Solo Recording Artist in music with sales in excess of 123 million.

Garth Brooks is a country music singer-songwriter who was successful in merging elements of rock into his recordings and performances. He's dominated the country singles and album charts and has been popular in the pop music culture.
The youngest of six children, he has enjoyed over 70 hit singles, 15 albums (all making charts) and has sold over 123 million albums in the US. His first album was released by Capitol Records in 1989 and was a huge success, hitting #2 on Country Music Album charts, 13 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the pop album charts. This was to become his largest selling album with over 16 million in domestic sales.
Brooks achieved success first, signing a recording contract with Capitol Records in 1988. In 1991, Brooks's album Ropin' the Wind had pre-orders of over 4 million copies and entered the pop album charts at #1. Brooks was the first country artist with 3 albums in the pop top 20 in one week. In 1992, all five of his albums were listed on Billboard's Pop Top 50 Albums chart (no other artist in the modern pop era had ever accomplished this).
Brooks has been recognized by the RIAA as the Best Selling Solo Recording artist in Music.
