Beyond film, Gary's other current passion is HUB (Humanity Unites Brilliance), an exciting new social and humanitarian business model unconditionally committed to sustainable solutions for all and accelerating an end to the cycle of poverty. This dynamic new model for exponential giving unites best of breed 'non-profits' in the field to transition communities from survival to self-empowerment to sustainable abundance. HUB creates a full solution for poor and neglected communities around the world; not content to deliver a fish, HUB teaches people to fish and equips them with essential tools (micro-loans, education, food, water and environmental training).

Previously, Goldstein dedicated time as a member of the steering committee for the Entertainment Industry Foundation and, on EIF's behalf, acted as chair of 'Principal For A Day' (designed in conjunction with Los Angeles Educational Partnership and the Los Angeles Unified School District to involve the private sector with the improvement of public education throughout Los Angeles).

You are invited to become part of a paradigm
that creates abundance
for you,
your community
and our world.

Hi Gary. Welcome to the Readers and Writers Group. I enjoyed your lens. I just watched Under Siege the other night. I'm not a huge fan of Steven, but the movie was pretty good. It seems like every movie he stars in, his hair doesn't move.

I wish you the best of luck and thanks for the read. I gave your lens 5 stars.

10 Basic Rules of Screenwriting

1. Feature film script should be between 95 and 120 pages in length.
- Never longer. A script over 120 pages needs editing.
- Never shorter. A script shorter than 90 pages is too short.
- The perfect length is 100 pages for comedies, 110 for dramas.
- Cheat your margins if you have to, but better yet write and cut to the correct length.

The Assistant - Your Most Valuable Asset

by Gary W. Goldstein

THE ASSISTANT - YOUR MOST VALUABLE ASSET

The most important people in the film business, by far, are the assistants. Revere them. Befriend them. Treat them with unadulterated respect. Know their names and make them your ally.

CREATING AN ALLY

Whether your goal is to make yourself known to a producer, director, agent, manager, studio or independent film executive, treat their assistant with respect and courtesy, humor and politeness. Do not "rush" your way through the assistant or approach them as someone standing between you and your goal.

Approach the assistant as if he or she is precisely your desired objective. Communicate your appreciation without being overly solicitous. Use your precious moments on the phone well, stating clearly who you are, your purpose and your 'why'. Your 'why' is about the assistant, the regard you have for their company, and your mission or goal that prompted your phone call.
