Gauteng South Underwater Club
Registration of Gauteng South Underwater Club
As of the 1st October 2007, GSUC replaced GFA as a sustainable diving club with a new vision of fairness and transparency.
In addtion, GSUC has registered and is a paid-up formal Member Club with SAUFF.
Why join a club?
Letter of introduction from SAUFF
2. Ban on taking East Coast Rock Lobster off a boat using diving gear.
3. Proposed blanket ban on taking Garrick(Leervis) and Brusher(White Musselcracker)
4. New MPA's proposed.
5. Exclusion of Spearfishing from MPA's, while angling is still permitted.
These are a small number of examples of the concerns facing our sport. Spearfishing is the most ecologically sound, safe and sustainable method for harvesting sealife. Our sport is practiced by a small number of dedicated athletic individuals who have the highest regard for the environment. SAUFF will portray that image to influence government decisions in the future.
- Letter from SAUFF
- SAUFF have implemented a more sustainable form of fund-raising. Clubs and individuals who compete will need to register respectively. By uniting we can petition the powers-that-be to reconsider legislation and even change some of this legislation in our favour.
Even if you don't compete, your contribution will be working toward protecting your Spearfishing interest. Consider that approximately 20 000 Spearfishing licences were taken this year and only 80 divers belong to SAUFF.
