Gears of War Resource

Currently it's somewhat difficult to get into a full game of ranked or even player matches on the PC version. I'm not entirely sure what the cause of this is but I know that the non gold online section has many games. We need more players! If everybody who reads this goes and plays a match right now, we'd have a fuller community, so do your part and start revving up that chainsaw!

"Here are some Survival Tactics i thought might be useful for some of you. i would have added them to the "multiplayer tips" thread but these can be applied to a wider range of games or situations. Also, some map-specific tactics would be good. I am far less adept at Map specific tactics so feel free. oh and any battle type specificas are welcome 2 ;D (eg. annex, etc.)
here are some of my fore-said tips:

1. if you can see your iminent death approaching, grab cover while they approach. blind shoot a bit, dump all your nades and run. then plan an ambush.

2. nades bounce, you don't always have to throw them direct. cause a bit of havoc. the more they bounce the more scared you enemy gets.

3. shock and awe. don't give them a chance to return fire, get close and use the shotty.

4. never have 2 longrange weapons, eg. torque bow + longshot. if they sneak up on you your f**ked. try to keep the shotty, its whey 2 useful close combat.

5. KEEP MOVING. don't stop moving if your in a firefight without cover. if you have a long bit of cover, eg. a wall. run along it, keep them guessing where you'll next come up. make yourselves hard targets.

6. camping, althought effective on other games, is very ineffective on GOW. simply because of it's lack of simple maps where there is only way for the enemy to go and little cover. in GOW snipers die early unless they're protected.

7. pairs are a more effective formation than most others. two average/skilled pairs working closely with the other pair can take out any team. my whole team got munched by two guys with the starting guns. our team had all the pick up guns and the four of us were working alone.

8. smoke grenades aren't as usless as some would say. they can be used as dummys to make the enemy run or to give u a chance to run and set up an ambush for a pursuing enemy.

9. if you know that there are snipers about don't stay in one place for longer than you need to and when aproaching a sniper who is zoomed don't grab cover. its very noisy when u do and if he hears u ur fucked.

10. again, stay on the move. once you have made a kill, get the hell outa there.

11. RTFM on how to aim as well. i've seen people empty shottie mags at me with while i was stuck in a corner and miss. so i sawed him. don't be like him - armless.

and one new one:

12. always try to fight on your own turf. if you know the map well and feel confident, don't hesitate to use that to your advantage. if you don't however, don't rush around, learn a particular section of the map and then learn the best places for ambushes and defence in that section. this should only take 2 rounds at the most. don't get cocky and do be cautious, don't forget, there are only four guys on your side, losing one is nothing minor, so don't rush blindly in there. if you die you can realy screw up you team. so don't.

The reason for the exclusive cog tag guide is that there is an excellent one listed just below in my linkzzz section. What you want to know (if you know why you're reading this that is) is where the three extra cog tags located in the PC exclusive single player content reside. I am here to tell you just that.
I will start with what I do know, right now.

Cog Tag #2? (31-33)
Being the only PC exclusive cog tag that I have found, I cannot state which one of the three this is.
It is located on a set of stairs right after you go through a very dark parking lot. If you're lost, the parking lot comes right after the theater, which I hated because of its insane difficulty (I think I spent several hours on that part). Anyways, on these set of stairs, you want to go up to continue the level, but the cog tag abides in a dead end that you run in to if you take the stairs down. Do so and you will have one of these brand new tags. :)

Cog Tag #3 (31-33)
During the fight with the Brumak at the end of the bonus content you will be in a very wide arena. Where you want to go is to the very back of that arena where you will find the cog tag hidden behind some cover.
