Introduction

Gemma Merna is a UK actress best known for playing the part of Carmel McQueen in Channel 4's Hollyoaks. She was awarded Best Comedy Performance at the 2007 British Soap Awards and mominated for the Best Newcomer Award which was won by Kim Ryder from Coronation Street.

She believes that the cast of Hollyoaks do not get credit they deserve, In an interview with the Daily Star she said "We are completely underrated as a show, which is so frustrating, People just think we are gorgeous models who have nothing else to offer".
