Doll Collecting 101: Gene Dolls

Ranked #4,406 in Hobbies, Games & Toys, #51,979 overall

Gene Marshall - Fashion Doll

Gene Marshall was created in 1995 as a 16" doll by Mel Odom for Ashton Drake and was designed to appeal to fans of "Golden Age of Hollywood" glamor. The Gene Doll is now made by Integrity Toys.

While I was not drawn towards Gene at first because of her exaggerated features, a year after Gene came out, her beautiful fashions won me over as did some very nicely done repaints. I was sad to learn the Gene doll is being retired in 2010.

This lens will provide info, photos and articles about the Gene doll and related dolls including Madra, Ivy, Violet, Trent, etc.

This lens is part of my Doll Collecting 101 series.

Beautiful dolls! It's a wonder why I've never see them before.
  • KathrynDarden Nov 15, 2010 @ 9:49 pm | delete
They are not sold in toy stores. You have to find a store that specializes in or at least has a selection of dolls for grown-up collectors.

LOL! If you are giving away Gene dolls, let me give you MY address! :)
Seriously, try taking a few out of the boxes for holidays and special occasions. Put a few out with a fall them now, then set some aside to display for the holidays!
