George Tiller Killed at Church

Tiller is Dead and Pro-life Activists Fear Being Blamed
A senseless murder of a long-time late-term abortionist, George Tiller, took place at Tiller's place of worship. In my opinion, the one who shot him should be sentenced according to the full extent of the law. Murder is wrong, and it does nothing positive for pro-lifers, who have worked hard to regulate and stop the practice of abortion peacefully and legally. It has only served to feed the leftist lions waiting to devour it's opposition.
On a side note, it is Ironic that a Muslim extremist, a real terrorist, at the same time shot two soldiers and the story was avoided by nearly every major TV news station. Then, when a Muslim woman protested at a memorial service given on behalf of the fallen soldiers, the reporters bypassed interviewing attenders and went right to the shouting Muslim woman for an interview. If they aired the report, my guess is that they edited out her antisemitic comments that the news is run by Jews and that all Jews are liars. Yet, the Huffington Post reported thousands in attendance at Tiller's funeral, including quotes from family members and friends that sounded assured that Tiller was immediately transported to heaven.
I am pro-life and I am a Christian. And although I have many friends who believe the same as I do (and many who don't), not one of them believes that premeditated murder is right. Yet, the out of touch media, with an agenda of their own, uses isolated instances, such as the murder of Tiller by a single madman, as ammunition to conveniently lump all pro-lifers, religious folks, and Republicans together as violent terrorists. Ironic, isn't it, that those who stand for life would be blamed for death?
But what's new? The left is too busy being "non-discriminatory," therefore disabling it's ability to acknowledge that there is such a thing as right and wrong. It poisons and mentally cripples society. It makes puppets out of young adults, who bend easily to peer pressure; who seem to need guidance to think for themselves, yet prefer to find others to think for them. It's too socially risky to stand out among the crowd. But that's an issue for another time.
For those of you who don't know: pro-life groups are usually loving individuals who care a lot about people, young and old. Many of them have taken great personal risks to inform the public about abortion; what it is and what it is not; as well as protesting clinics like Tiller's, his being the most extreme in America at the time of his death.
Pro-lifers want mothers to know what they aren't being told: how it effects them, their baby, and the whole family. They show good reasons for better solutions, such as adoption. They encourage abstinence rather than contraception that doesn't work and encourages young women to let men use their body for selfish pleasure. Each inevitable abortion thereafter destroys her body's ability to have children in the future without physical problems, such as miscarriage because of a cervix that has been unnaturally dilated and never was allowed to naturally close after giving birth, the way God meant for it to do.
Those in the abortion industry are only interested in selling abortions to women in the crisis time of their lives. It would go against their cause to encourage adoption or to allow the mother to see an ultrasound of their baby before deciding what to do. Women aren't being told that they will deliver their baby into a toilet during a late term abortion. They are not told that it IS a real baby or that abortion hurts. They are not being told that alternatives like adoption can be better for them AND the baby. Instead, these young women and teens are coerced to abort as soon as possible, as if a baby is nothing more than a leech.
Abortionists have a motive called money. It's hard to turn away $500 in cash up front plus insurance incentives that favor abortion over full-term delivery. An abortionist, unlike an OB/GYN delivering a full-term baby, can lock up, go home, and avoid staying up all night on call until the baby is ready to be delivered. Let's face it... that's inconvenient for someone with scheduled appointments collecting insurance the following day. Those appointments must be postponed. C-sections are frequented by doctors for the very same reason. Doctors can work them around their own schedules and they don't have to walk around tired or postpone the following day's money-making appointments. Why is it that we as patients still think of doctors as caring? Is it possible that money talks as loud to them as it does to us?
So, although I was deeply troubled and in tears upon hearing the news of Tiller's death, I admit that it was short-lived in light of what I already know about Tiller, which is why he was protested more than any abortion doctor in the United States. (Look it up... it's pretty gruesome.) I was praying that he would get out of the business, like so many before him already have, for everyone's sake. No one can say he didn't have plenty of time and opportunities to change his mind.
I don't know how long he has been attending church or why he did. Did he ever read Psalm 139? Did he ever read the Bible? Some say Tiller claimed that it was God's will to do abortions. God's will? That's sicker than the man who killed Tiller saying, "God told me to do it." I have read story after story of how, over the years, being in the business of abortion takes a heavy toll on those who perform the procedure. A heart can become severely calloused, and even demented. Seems like some of his church friends coddled him enough to make him feel like there was nothing wrong with what he did. He had the best of both worlds. Perhaps the church was afraid of losing his contributions. Ugh... May I remind you of where the money came from? (Oh but they would say, Shhhh... don't spoil it or we won't get anymore money.)
Anyway, only God knows what Tiller was thinking. I certainly don't. Miraculous conversions are not unheard of. I hope, as his family does, that he made it to heaven. Permanent separation from God is not something I would wish on anyone. Yet, I have seen the reports of women being wheeled into an ambulance on a stretcher, coming from Tiller's clinic. They bled to death in lieu of preserving Tiller's reputation. I have seen videos of Tiller driving women to the hospital to avoid lights and sirens. This time, I got chills upon seeing the photo of the stretcher being being wheeled into the ambulance. This time, the body under the sheet was Tiller's, instead of a woman injured and bleeding due to a botched abortion. And this time, it was not just some small town Arkansas newspaper taping the stretcher being wheeled into an ambulance. This time, it was pasted across every front page and TV news station in the nation. Hmmm... is there something wrong with this picture?
I hope that the reason Tiller was at church was due to the conflict in his soul over his chosen profession; or because of the realization of what he would be known for throughout history henceforth. Yes, we all make mistakes. The God of the Bible has been known to forgive even murder, but not without asking and always welded to repentance. My hope is that Tiller had already decided that he was wrong; that he was going to call it quits. God only knows.
My sincere condolences to Dr. Tiller's family and friends. God's love and comfort to you all. I don't know you, but I feel your pain, that it is probably deeper than most due to the circumstances surrounding Dr. Tiller's death. I will always believe that the only One qualified to say when life should end is God, regardless of age or circumstance. I don't know if Dr. Tiller was struggling at all with the moral implications of his profession. But I do know that many former abortionists have faced the truth... the fact that there is life in the womb; that it is not just "tissue." These have a new respect for life. They felt freer for acknowledging the truth. And you will too, if you are open to it.
On behalf of every God-given life, I have created a series of lenses on former abortionists and abortion employees. Each is aware of the physical, spiritual, mental, and moral implications of abortion. Many continue to work in the field of medicine, but have stopped doing abortions. They are still able to make a living, but they aren't convinced that they need to make more than they do. They don't have to compromise their personal convictions anymore. They tell their individual stories about how they went from pro-death to pro-life. They are featured above the guest book on this page.
America... we have been fooled by wealthy politicians and doctors with dollar signs in their eyes. We have been sold the pro-choice mantras, and have become pro-choice salespeople who don't require a salary (pro-bono) for their free advertising. Please think about whose salesperson you are. I have. And my conscience tells me I need to defend women and the unborn.
My prayers are with those at Tiller's church who were shaken by the events on the day of Tiller's death. And also with his family. May God's voice be heard and may our prayers always petition His will and not our own.

"To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket--safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable." ~ C. S. Lewis
