George Michael

George Michael has an easily recognizable voice and is best cataloged as pop, but has been largely inspired, according to Michael himself, by soul, R & B, funk, and other genres to a lesser extent. Although he may not have seen the enormous reputation of other pop stars close to his age (such as well-known soloists Sting or Madonna), George Michael has nevertheless sold millions of albums, made multi-millions, and still has a devoted fan base, male and female, more than twenty-five years after his initial appearance.

George Michael may be most recognized for his "bad boy" reputation and seedy image. This impression was not exactly what the singer had in mind when he went solo, asserting that he was hoping to reach a more grown-up audience than the mostly teen following he was reaching with the duo, but this is what ultimately happened with the choices he made concerning his personal life. He released his groundbreaking solo album in 1987, after recording with Wham! for almost six years.

George Michael has currently released five studio albums, 2 compilation albums, one live album, and dozens of popular singles. He has also starred in racy music videos for MTV and other music video sources (such as the Internet video source YouTube), though not all of his videos were aired after their production due to sexually explicit lyrics or scenes. He has also hit the gossip columns several times between his homosexual revelations and relationships and unfortunate drug problems/rehab, although he should also be noted for his giving nature and charity work worldwide.
