George Michael was born Georgios Panayiotou in East Finchley, North London in 1963. Known to us all as George Michael his dad worked in the restaurant business and moved from North London to Radlett a bit further north in Hertfordshire in his teens.
His family name was Yioga and he had a sister called Yioda. She lived for a while in Nottingham. When George met up with Andrew Ridgeley and formed Wham in 1981 and they became an instant success, with their iconic T-shirts proclaiming 'Choose Life'. Make it Big was their first US number 1 hit.
His solo discography is renowned and was really kicked off with the amazing track Careless Whisper.
He 'came out' in 2007. Jesus To A Child was a song written in his former partners honour. Anselmo Feleppa died of a brain hemorrhage related to Aids in 1993. He has been in a long term relationship with Kenny Goss since 1996.
Recently stories have emerged suggesting that GM would like a less high profile lifestyle. Lets hope he doesn't leave the scene entirely.
