The Gerber LMF 2 Knives

The Gerber LMF 2 Knives are some of the best survival knives on the market today. The three different styles are the Gerber LMF 2 ASEK, the Gerber LMF 2 Survival, and the Gerber LMF 2 Infantry. I will be covering all three them as well as the differences between each one.

First, A Note Of Warning...

Gerber LMF 2

There is a lot of confusion among dealers of Gerber LMF 2 knives. (Don't worry, I'm here to clear that up.) Their distributors give them descriptions to post about the knives they sell and that's about all the research that's done on their products. It's not their fault and many of them are very reputable dealers, however they add to the confusion by not being specific about what they are selling.

I have spent a lot of time researching the different Gerber LMF 2 styles and I have received official answers to my questions from Gerber. You will find many of these answers on my 72 hour survival blog that are the actual replies from Gerber's customer service.

The last point I will make before we move along to the knives is that I've tried to find the cheapest prices available on these knives and post them here.

And with that being said... on to the knives.

Gerber LMF 2 ASEK

Gerber LMF 2

The ASEK Acronym stands for Aviation Support Element, Kaneohe. Some would argue that it stands for Aircrew Survival Egress Knife, (and some knives from other manufacturers do carry that definition) but not the Gerber LMF 2 ASEK.

The Gerber LMF 2 knife itself is the exact same knife whether your talking about the ASEK, the Survival, or the Infantry knives. The differences are only in the color and the accessories you get with the knife.

The Gerber LMF 2 ASEK includes the sheath, the knife, TWO leg straps, the Safety Knife and Safety Knife Sheath (the extra blades can be found inside the handle of the safety knife itself.)

The ASEK is ONLY available in the Foliage Green color and has Infra Red resistance. The correct model number for this version is: 22-01627

(One note about the picture, the safety knife sheath should be green but I could only find a picture of the brown one.)

Gerber LMF 2 Survival

Gerber LMF 2

This is probably my favorite of all the Gerber LMF 2 knives. The main reasons are because I don't need the Infra Red Resistance of the ASEK, I get all the same accessories, and it's cheaper than the ASEK version. However, it is ONLY available in Camel Brown. (Yes, that is the official name of the color of the Gerber LMF 2 Survival knife, not Coyote Brown as everyone else designates.)

Just to be clear, here's what you get with the Gerber LMF 2 Survival knife. You get the sheath, the knife, TWO leg straps (Not one like the picture shows), the Safety Knife and Safety Knife Sheath (the extra blades can be found inside the handle of the safety knife itself.)

The correct model number of this version is: 22-01400

Buy the Gerber LMF 2 Camel Brown Survival knife here.

Gerber LMF 2 Infantry

Gerber LMF 2

The Gerber LMF 2 Infantry knife is the most basic version available. In this version you can get it in Foliage Green (Yes, it is still Infra Red Resistant), Camel Brown, and the most popular color... Black. Each of these come with a color matched sheath.

The Gerber LMF 2 Infantry comes with the knife, the sheath, and ONE leg strap.

The correct model numbers for these knives are:
22-01626 Foliage Green LMF II Infantry
22-01463 Camel Brown LMF II Infantry
22-01629 Black LMF II Infantry

Buy the Gerber LMF 2 Foliage Green Infantry knife here.

Buy the Gerber LMF 2 Camel Brown Infantry knife here.

And buy the highly popular Gerber LMF 2 Black Infantry knife here.

In Conclusion...

Gerber LMF 2

As to the above links to the Gerber LMF 2 knives, I have tried my best to be sure they are the correct model number and in most cases I've contacted the vendor to be absolutely sure I have the correct knife listed. However, if you have any doubt please contact the dealer to be sure. There is nothing worse than ordering a knife and then having to go through the hassle of returning it because it was the wrong one.

I have more information on these and other knives on some of my other pages listed below as well as on my 72 Hour Survival blog so check it out as well.
