Get Better-Educated About Your Worth
Hint: it's not what your boss pays you
Society teaches us to think a certain way (Jay Kubassek, "Insideout" DVD). We grow up thinking that life should be handled the way our parents handled it. You can see many examples of this every day around you. Business owners hand off their businesses to their kids when they retire. Teachers come from families of teachers. And have you ever noticed how many politicians' sons and daughters end up in politics? Unfortunately for many of us, this way of thinking keeps the upper class in the upper class, the middle class in the middle class, and the working class in the working class.
The real question to ask yourself when you start your own business is, "how do I move up from where I am?" Let me give you a hint: it isn't by listening to your parents, or your friends. As suggested by Jay Kubassek (Jay Kubassek, "Insideout" DVD), look around you. What are your parents making every month? What are your friends making? Average these numbers, and bingo, there's YOUR monthly salary.
In order to combat this way of thinking, it is absolutely imperative that you surround yourself with people who are where you want to be. By spending time with people who are already successful in your business, you will learn to think differently. It's not that your way of thinking is wrong; it's that it keeps you stuck in your current self-worth. Keep hanging out with your family and friends, and your business will make what they expect it to make - which is probably what you're making per year now, or even less. But spend time with million-dollar earners, and guess what? You'll soon change your thinking and realize your own success.

- Great lens! It is hard to improve yourself if you haven't figured out who you are. Define yourself and then kick it up a notch. Great advise.
