Iron is an important mineral for expecting mothers and developing fetuses. You do not have to eat tons of red meat to get the recommended iron in your diet. While lean red meat is the best source of iron, you can also eat beans and peas, green, leafy vegetables, and dried fruits like raisins and apricots.

Most women have heard of the importance of folic acid in their diets.
