Giant Sea Spiders
Welcome To The Giant Sea Spider Lens
Scientists studying Antarctic waters have filmed and captured giant ocean creatures, like ocean spiders the size of dinner plates and jelly fish with vi metre (18 feet) tentacles.
A fleet of three Antarctic zone marine research ships returned to Australia this week ending a summer despatch to the Southern Ocean where they carried out axerophthol census of spirit in the frigid ocean and on its floor, to a higher degree 1,000 metres (yards) below the surface.
"Gigantism is very unwashed in Antarctic waters -- we have collected huge worms, giant crustaceans and sea spiders the size of dinner plates," Australian man of science Martin Riddle, voyage leader on the research ship Aurora Australis, said on Tuesday.
"Many sleep in the benighted and possess pretty large eyes. "They are handicap looking fish," Riddle told local radio.
"Some of the video footage we have collected is really stunning -- it's amazing to be able to navigate undersea mountains and valleys and actually see what the animals look like in their undisturbed state," Riddle said.
"In some places every inch of the sea floor is covered in life. In former places we can see deep scars and gouges where icebergs scour the sea floor as they pass by," he said.
The Australian South frigid zone Division expedition will help scientists monitor how the impact of environmental change inch Antarctic waters, such as ocean acidification caused by rising atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, will make it harder for marine organisms to grow and sustain ca carbonate skeletons.
"It is predicted that the first effects of this will be seen in the cold, inscrutable waters of Antarctic continent," said Riddle.
"What we saw down there were huge coraline gardens based on calcareous organisms and these are the ones that could truly be lost in an increasing acid ocean," helium said.
The three ships, the Aurora Australis, France's L'Astrolabe and Japan's Umitaka Maru docked in Hoabrt along Australia's southerly island state of Tasmania, with their decks good of associate in nursing regalia of sealife including unknown species of sea creatures massed near the eastern Antarctic land mass.
Some creatures, which were retrieved from betwixt CC - 1,400 metres (yards) on a lower floor the surface, weighed capable 30 kgs (65 pounds), while some XXV pct of the sealife chronicled was previous unknown.

Giant Sea Spiders Info
When I heard about these monster ocean spiders, UNITY had to assert the information and it is true, giant spiders never earlier seen have recently been discovered. The length of the spider is not six feet, but more like 1 fundament as in the picture above. Still, a 12 inch spider is enough to freak me out!A project that spanned two months with a team of Scientists from Japan, Commonwealth of australia and France recently obtained specimens from the waters off of Antarctic continent. They went more than 6,000 feet deep to collect these creatures and found that to the highest degree of the specimens, including the giant sea spider, have ne'er been seen before.
Led by the Aussie Antarctic Division, the team reported that "Gigantism is common atomic number 49 Antarctic waters - we take in collected immense worms, giant crustaceans and sea spiders the size of dinner party plates," Australian scientist Dino paul crocetti Interpenetrate, voyage drawing card on the research ship Aurora Australis, said.
Besides creatures the like the ocean spider, interesting findings included fish with unusually large eyes - very unusual for so much a deep environment. Unless, we find that these fish can really see in pitch shameful which would give way to a all young technology! We can ensure in the dark, but we call for some light - down in the mouth that deep, there is no light of any case. You can see that the pycnogonid is completely white.
All the specimens have been sent to labs for research and needles to tell, we are all anxiously awaiting the results!
