Glycemic Index: My Success Story

Hi, I'm Carmel. Are you anything like me?

I found my success using a program based on the Glycemic Index and my own unique genetics.

Please let me explain:

I market a program for people who have been overweight and would like to do something about it without using dangerous drugs or surgery---just like me.

Let me tell you what happened to me. Before I began this program I had been battling my size my entire life.

It got worse and worse and I just hated it. I just wanted to be a normal slim person who looked good and was healthy.

I had tried almost every diet known to man and had spent a fortune on diet books and diet solutions that didn't work.

I had gone from low calorie to high fat, to Protein Power, to Dr. Atkins, the South-Beach Diet, etc.

I was so DEPRESSED because nothing made any DIFFERENCE.

Then, I tried this program. This program is based on the hunter gatherer studies that many of the Caveman Diets are based on. Using this helps us to balance our body, including our blood sugar levels.

I can't believe I decided to try one more thing, but, I am so glad that I did.

During the first year I lost over 65 inches of fat, and changed many sizes. Also, my health has improved. In other words it changed my life.

I loved it so much that I was certified and am now teaching it to others.

I have always had a problem with my weight. I have always hated that. I never found a diet that was easy, and handled my hunger & cravings, like this one has.

This is the best, easiest and most effective program I have ever been on for weight loss. Now that I have made it into a lifestyle, it couldn't be easier. The nutrition you recommended has been so helpful too.

I just pick the foods that you taught us that would not spike my blood sugar. Since I no longer have the hunger & cravings that I have had my entire life, especially with chocolate-although I still like it-the fat has just melted off. I can't get over the complements I'm getting from people.

Glycemic Index-G I information

You need to know what you are doing.

Dr. Steve Nugent wrote the Genetic Key Diet. He designed the Certified Program that I got my results with, and now am so happy to teach.

In Ron's Own Words:

It took me a while to embrace a healthy lifestyle, because I was comfortable being the BIG guy in the room.

I was 240 lbs as a senior in high school. I never battled with my weight, I embraced it. I watched friends diet, loose, and regain pounds, and I didn't want to FAIL. I can honestly say that I never dieted, and I never owned a scale.

I would step on the scale at church just to joke with my dieting friends that I was still at 350 pounds. That, unfortunately, was the highest reading on the scale, but I was getting bigger. While we laughed, I really knew that it wasn't funny.

Today I'm at my high school weight, but we try not to talk about pounds.

I started on the GK Diet program to prove to a friend that it wouldn't work. After thirty days I found out that it was making a big difference. Learning to eat the foods that I should eat, I found that I was never hungry. I'm not on a diet, but have changed my lifestyle.

In the process, I have lost more than 57 inches. My waist has gone from 52 to 42. I lost my inches over a period of about 18 months and I have maintained now for over a year without weight or inch gain. Bonus........I'm never hungry!

I love food....after loosing my first 100 pounds, we had a party at the ice cream parlor. It was a good time with friends, but not something that we do often. Once I discovered how to eat, I have no cravings.

I will always be thankful to those who supported me, and I pledge to be there for you if you decide that it's time to make a difference in your life. I'm living proof.....there's a thinner you just waiting to be revealed.

If you're willing to follow some basic steps, I'm confident that you will be successful.

This book helped me to eat right. I was a pre-diabetic weighing 235 lbs. Since following this book's guidelines in August, 2007, my blood glucose now is less than a 100, my weight has dropped to 188 pounds, and my trouser size has gone from a 42 to a 36. I highly recommend this book to anyone with heart trouble, diabetes, to anyone wanting to live a health lifestyle.



My comments: We need to learn how to cook healthy and low glycemic for the entire family. This is not a strict program, but, much better that the usual Standard American Diet (S A D)

I felt like the Pillsbury Dough Boy ! I managed a guest ranch and lived in wranglers & cowboy boots.

Trying to find decent looking clothes to wear to work was impossible and I hated looking in the mirror.

With all of the emotional stuff, the fatigue and the resulting bad attitude...I just about lost my job, and a lot of my friends, and family thought I was losing it, so did I ! In fact, there were days I wished I had a nice quiet padded room, sound familiar?

Then, in May of this year, I found a program that helped get my body back in balance, and get me back on track.

It didn't take long and I began to notice the mental fog lifting and my moods were more stable.

Then, as I followed the eating plan my body began to melt, the fat was disappearing and I had more energy than those who were quite a few years younger than me.

But, I think the biggest change was my over all sense of well being and happiness.

Once that began to happen, my results accelerated and by the end of July I had lost 22 pounds, and a total of 18 inches, I was getting my life back.

Now, it's October 7th as I write this and I am down to my normal weight of 120 pounds. The pictures below tell the rest of the story.

I went from depressed, fat and tired to thin, healthy and happier than I've been in many years. The best part is...my husband and family have a healthy happy ME back.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. I wish I could give a copy to everyone I know. Not only are the recipes the most delicious healthy foods we've ever made, but Sandra Woodruff explains the nutritional and health reasons for eating good carbs in simple, easy-to-understand language. She emphasizes moderation. Her recipes are followed by nutritional information, including whether they are extremely low GI, low GI, or moderate GI%u2026%u2026%u2026%u2026..
Do yourself a favor and pick up this book! I researched all the low-carb, no-carb, low-sugar, Zone, Busters, etc... books ... and decided after reading all the information and reviews, to purchase this one. I am so glad I did! You will be too. You owe yourself an energetic, long life. BUY THIS BOOK.

Lorie's Glycemic Index Success

Jumping for Joy over Weight LossIn November 2007, I had to have a sleep study done because I wasn't getting the proper rest. It was discovered that I had mild sleep apnea. The doctor said the best way to correct it is to have gastric bypass surgery as I am obese.

The last thing I wanted to do was be cut open. I mentioned to Carmel what was going on and she introduced me to her new wellness weight loss class. I set my goals, worked on my eating plan, increased my water intake, and exercised regularly. I managed to lose 50 pounds in 8 months. I managed to lose quite a few inches too, but can't find my chart to say how many.

(Update: Now I've lost over 60 lbs.)
Many people tell me how great I look now. I can fit into smaller clothes and I have more energy. I began taking the supplements as well and things are going great. I used to wear a size 13 ring. Now that is way too loose. I got a size 12 ring recently, and guess what, that is getting too loose as well!

I am so grateful to this program and I know that by sticking with it, I will reach my goal without having to resort to surgery.

I got both books, The GI Diet and Living the GI Diet, which has a lot more recipies in it, and some of the ones I mention here are from that edition) Now, regarding the books and the diet: The books are set up in such a way that they are extremely easy to follow. I love the red, yellow, and green light idea for the various foods listed. The only part that is a little confusing at first is the portion size, but once you get used to not having to measure everything you eat, it is great! This book lists portions as how much of the plate it fills: 1/4 for meat, 1/4 for pasta, rice etc, and 1/2 for fruits and veggies. Now how much easier can that be?

The United States is third in the world's line-up of the 10 Fattest Countries.

That means we need to do something about this situation. It is more important than just size. This excess fat means at least 22 additional health issues.

This excess fat not only makes us one of the fattest nations-but one of the unhealthiest ones as well. That should not be!

    About 6 weeks ago I discovered the Low GI diet and I've been following it faithfully for about a month. After years of trying all kinds of fad diets, work out routines, and even weight loss supplements without losing ONE pound, in a month of living a Low Gi lifestyle, I've lost 6 pounds! But that's not the best part...

    All my life I've required lots of sleep. I'm 27 years old and I've lived my whole life feeling sleepy and sluggish. I've been to the doctor, had my thyroid and other potential problems checked, and my doctors couldn't find any explanation. They said I must just be the kind of person who needs more sleep that most. For the first time in my life, I have energy. I need less sleep, I sleep better, and I no longer have migraines. If you knew (and maybe you do) what it was like to live in a perpetual state of sluggishness, you would understand how wonderful this is. For the first time in my life, I feel GREAT. REALLY GREAT! I want to tell everyone about Low GI. It has given me the life I've always wanted.

    Another great factor is that in only 4 short weeks, I don't crave pizza, french fries, burgers, any of the other garbage that I used to want all the time. I'd like to lose about 65 pounds and for once I feel like I don't have to embrace my extra pounds. I now know that I really CAN get them off!

    I read this with some interest, its always good to hear the success stories of others. I like that you consider each person individually with their genetics, well done. I guess I stopped out of curiosity as I've heard of people losing weight and getting much healthier using the glycemic index. My weight problem is in the other direction as I need to keep weight on.

    Hi Carmel, This is a very interesting lens. I wish I had read it before I spent a bunch of money to start on the Metabolic Research Diet! I will definitely mark this lens and read more about the glycemic index diet. Glad to meet you through the yahoo group! Also, I couldn't take your pole above because there is no category for NONE -as in, no diet has worked to keep off the weight! :-(

    I think that eating the low GI diet is the best thing we can do for our bodies. Not only is it anti-aging but it helps with our moods and hormones.

    Very interesting, Carmel. I did the Atkins thing a few years ago and lost 38 lbs. Unfortunately, I didn't adopt it as a "lifestyle change" and soon gained back all the weight. When I tried it again, it didn't work for me. I am bookmarking your lens and will definitely check out this new lifestyle plan. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi,
    I could eat high fat foods like cream cheese, peanut butter etc. and as long as I did not go way over board on those calories daily, I still got rid of fat around my waist line that had accumulated. I believe if I would have been even more conscious of the higher fat content in my meals that I would have even done better yet.
