Following a low glycemic index is not just for diabetics. Following a low GI diet can help you to burn fat and to keep it off.
The idea is to keep your blood sugars as stable as possible. When our blood sugars fluctuate, we experience weight gain, our energy crashes and we eat when we are not hungry.
Following a low glycemic index diet keeps your sugars more stable so that you do not have to store as much fat. The slow release carbs of the low GI diet are also higher in fiber. High fiber diets are related to lower incidences of certain cancers and weight loss.
