Unfortunately goal setting can be very difficult for most people. Too often we are plagued by distraction, lack of time, or fears.

Visualization is one of the most powerful tools anyone can use in personal goal setting. When you have implanted an image in your head, it stirs your subconscious to move you towards that direction.

Visualization helps you see positive changes because it helps you realize what your subconscious wants.

When you visualize your goals regularly, things become clearer. Just make sure that the scenario includes all the details. You basically have to create a blueprint of what you want.

Aside from that, visualization helps you in overcome your fears. When you visualize the goal, you subconsciously remove your fears because you are able to see the end result.

Another benefit is the reprogramming of your subconscious mind. It just takes practice and patience.

The thing to know about your mind is that it doesn't think in words.

Your mind actually uses visual imagery to communicate or think. You can use visualization to directly communicate with your mind.

By imagining something as vividly as possible, it's sends a clear message to the universe. It's amazing to know that your inner resources can make your dreams a reality.

In relation to your habits, there are some that we want to keep and some we want to completely remove. So, how exactly do you eliminate the habits you don't want by using the law of attraction?

First you have to decide what things you want to change and write them down. Keep the note and fill the note out with possible solutions.

You need to clearly state your purpose and announce what you want. Then, you have to write down your strategy. Ask yourself what can happen if these habits continue to persist.

Once you have strong enough reasons, you are more driven to end it or begin one that is beneficial for you. Identify the pattern and change that certain aspect in your life.

Basically, you have to eradicate that environment that leads you to act on these unfavorable habits.

Goal Setting 101 is one of those rare books that makes so much sense. I bought the book for my teenage son but soon found out that it was a great book for me as well.

Blair makes this subject simple, easy, and engaging. His writing style is a take no prisioners approach, very direct and useful information from the first to last page.

Why Visualization Works to Your Benefit

A great way to achieve your dreams is using the power of visualization. One creative method is called "process visualization."

Once you've had your goals set, you can think of your daily habits, behaviors, and the steps needed to get what you most want. You have to write down these action steps and visualize them.

I had a paperback version of "Creative Visualization," which I thumbed through 'til I practically wore the cover off. It just helped hold focus on so many parts of life. I found a car I wanted that way.

I am writing this review on a "touch screen" computer that I pictured myself using. I learned to use visualization for several goals from work to relationships, and I'm learning to apply new aspects of it as each day goes by.

The paperback didn't come with the "meditation CD," so that is certainly an added benefit of the hard-cover pack from Amazon. (It's one more way to help me hold focus on the visualizations I engage.)

I love this product!

I use some part of the pack every day. I generally read the book in morning quiet. The CD gets its work-out in the evenings, as I am winding down.

I would heartily recommend it to anyone who wants to explore goal achievement from a more intuitive method of "inner exercise."

Personal Goalsetting Tools | Use Vision Boards to Achieve Your Dream

What exactly is a vision board? How is it related to the law of attraction?

Basically, it is a visual representation, a collage, of the things that you want to have, be, or do in your life. You have to create a poster with cut-out pictures, drawings, and words that are related to your dream.

When put together, these things will inspire you to steer your life towards achieving your dream. Its purpose is to activate the law of attraction.

And we all know that knowing the law gets us to attain all our hopes.

How do you make a vision board? To start with, you need to gather things from your environment that will enable you to realize your wishes.

You need to select pictures and words that charge your emotions with only positive feelings. As soon as you feel the positivity set in, you will begin to manifest those things into your life.

The design of the board is patterned according to how you creative you can get. Having artistic ability may be a plus, but is definitely not a prerequisite for creating a functional vision board.

First and foremost, your vision board has to be very visual. Your subconscious mind actually works in pictures and images.

The pictures should be supplemented with words and phrases so that you are able to increase the emotional response you get from it. Of course, it also has to be emotional.

Everything you put on your vision board should evoke a positive emotional response. The mere sight of it should make you ecstatic.

You need to fuel your passion to achieve it every time you glance at it.

Once you're done with the set up, you need to strategically put it in area where you are able to see it every day. It needs to give you maximum exposure to it.

You need to constantly remind your subconscious mind of your hopes and wishes. If you bathe in its energy, you are able to manifest your desires quicker.


Make your vision board as personal as possible.

Negative feelings can damage the delicate energy that your vision board emits.

If you are afraid that others may ridicule you about it, you have every right to make it as confidential as possible.

You are not forced to share this experience with everyone and you have the prerogative to tell only those who can understand you.

So get your supplies now. Feel free to incorporate anything and everything.

Then start compiling pictures from newspapers and magazines. Don't evaluate the pictures.

Just put them neatly in a pile before you design the lay-out. You have to make sure that every detail pops out, so this must be done with care.

Sort everything out and paste them. Make sure that you choose only those that create an impact on you the most.

Your vision board has to inspire and charge you with renewed passion every time you look at it. As your needs change, make the necessary adjustments on your board as well.

You're vision board shouldn't be a finished piece of art after its initial creation. It's a dynamic thing that changes and improves over time.

As part of the overall business planning process, establishing goals is of course fundamental in providing a clear vision of what you want to accomplish. Setting one or more goals seems to be a straightforward process.

You establish a specific goal, one that's measurable and has a defined timeframe for completion. You implement your plan, measure your progress towards reaching your goal and then evaluate the outcome objectively to refine your process.

On the surface of things, it reads well and sounds easy enough to do. Unfortunately, it rarely works out that way for numerous reasons; primarily because we often fail to establish realistic goals.

Additionally, we often casually set goals with only a hazy view towards how they'll actually be accomplished. And while we're typically motivated at the beginning of the process, it's not at all unusual to lose our motivation somewhere along the way.

When preparing your own goals, it's important to first understand that every goal you set must be realistic and readily achievable, given an appropriate amount of time and resources.

For example, setting a goal to earn $25,000 per month within three months, when your present earnings are less than $1,000, is probably unrealistic.

On the other hand, setting an ongoing goal to increase your earnings by 5% or 10% per month is not only realistic, but more likely to be achievable.

Once you've defined a goal you believe you can accomplish, the next step is to break it down into smaller, manageable tasks and scheduling them in sequence (assuming one task depends on the completion of another).

Before defining the target date the overall goal must be completed, be certain that each task is given a reasonable amount of time for completion and allow the sum of the tasks to define the completion date, rather than arbitrarily selecting one.

Depending on how far into the future your goals are planned for, it's very helpful to schedule regular progress reviews, even if you're the only one involved.

For example, scheduling time every Friday afternoon to review your progress and make any necessary adjustments will keep your goals current. Don't be surprised if something unexpected interferes with your scheduling from time-to-time.

That's normal and you will simply need to identify some way to compensate for it.

Another artificial barrier to actually meeting your goals is the process itself.

Be careful to avoid implementing a goal management process that consumes more time than the goal itself.

On a smaller scale, a simple spreadsheet will often suffice to meet all of your management needs.

For larger scale management, a variety of goal management software exists, usually scalable for most organizations.

Aside from actually working the process towards eventually realizing your goal, the final step is to take some time to evaluate the overall process and your performance at the end.

This should be done objectively and embraced as a learning opportunity, one that will help you to improve your performance the next time.

With proper planning, setting realistic goals can only benefit you and your business in the long run, especially if you streamline the goal management process for yourself.

If you think of it as an evolving process focused on continual performance improvement, over time you will see a measurable improvement in everything you do!

I recently came across this book in my personal library. Gary signed it for me on June 4, 1994.

Now I know why I didn't trash it with all the other self-help books! Answer the questions in this book today; check back in 6 months, 2 years, or for me... 10 years later.

It is amazing to see just how answering the questions in this book can help you find the right direction, learn about who you are and who and where you want to be. I am still acheiving my goals and setting new ones.

We didn't have goal-setting classes when I went to school. I hope they teach this in our schools today.

Setting goals, whether it be to write a paper for a school project or start your own company, is the most powerful thing we can do for ourselves. Thanks, Gary, for giving us this guideline by which to plan our future.

The Benefits of Visualization

Your subconscious mind is an exceptionally potent ally. What you tell yourself to be and how you want things to work can be controlled.

All you need to do is learn the power of visualization.

Basically, your mind is fully capable of working backwards, working from the end to the means. This is basically an act of working towards your goal even without knowing the steps to be taken.

If you "program" only the desired outcome successfully within your "mental computer," then your subconscious takes over and helps you find the information and means to carry out the actions necessary to achieve the things that you want.

This is perhaps the best mental training technique available to people nowadays.

Many people are now familiarizing themselves with affirmations and goal-setting as ways to attain objectives.

They are harnessing all their energy into giving instructions to their subconscious mind. In a way, affirmation and visualization are very much the same.

When you speak or think about an affirmation, it triggers a mental image of your goals and dreams.

Visualization enables you to plant goals into your subconscious mind.

The process of imagining yourself going through the motions of a complex performance activates brain areas to enhance and further your skills.

Brain scans reveal a firm neurological basis. Scientists were able to use the Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans as basis for their theory. The results revealed that the mental rehearsal of an action activates the pre-frontal lobe of the brain.

This area was responsible for the formulation of the appropriate motor programs. This basically means that you can benefit when you use mental imagery.

Scientists have been able to establish the mind and body link. There's also direct evidence in the way emotional stress can contribute to physical illnesses and difficulties.

What people don't realize is that the mind greatly influences the body and the circumstances outside it.

You could even use this technique in the middle of an exercise. When you want to lose all unwanted fat, all you need to do is imagine the burning process taking place.

See the unwanted bulges melt away as you remove it from the areas in your body that you want smaller.

You don't need to be a scientist to know this. In fact, research enables you to create a picture on the entire process.

For a fully successful workout, imagine the muscles building up and taking its place where the fat once occupied.

Even if you were not as educated with the internal structure and workings of the body, you could still use this method.

The important thing to know here is that your body responds to mental imagery. It does not take heed of inaccuracies.

What is more important is the process you want to happen. In field of hypnosis, the subconscious mind responds well to metaphor better than literal suggestions.

Facts and logic belong to the conscious mind, while emotion and metaphor slips into the subconscious domain.

If you frequently visualize what you want and set a schedule for the exercise, the mental images will be accepted by the subconscious.

Then, your mind commands the will of the universe. This helps a lot with modifying and improving habits, behavior, and performance.
