How to Reach Goals: by Choices or Excuses?
Ranked #8,617 in Healthy Living, #143,555 overall
Setting Goals then Using Choices or Excuses
It doesn't matter what your goals are, the steps to achieve them are pretty much the same.
As I teach classes I work with people first to define their goals, and then help them see the value of making good choices, and not making excuses. This is everything in helping others reach their goals and become a success.
These types of accomplishments are empowering. The more a person reaches goals, the more confident and successful he/she becomes As they achieve these accomplishments it also gives them a wonderful sense of well being.
You need a plan and direction to accomplish a goal. It will take work, but where there is a plan and specific steps, it can and will be accomplished.
Yes, success is straight ahead, but, learn the difference between making choices and using excuses.

Smart Goals--Then Make Proper Choices
Setting and Achieving Goals

As a Wellness Weight Management Coach I love working with people and helping them achieve their goals. Of course first they must actually know what their goals are. If you don't have goals you will just drift and accomplish nothing.
After deciding that setting goals is the first step, a person must begin taking the steps or making the proper choices to reach their goals.
This is a process that everyone must go through if they are to make any kind of progress toward their goals.
Choices Or Excuses - That is the Question
Life Is About Making Choices

Now, what are the obstacles in reaching goals? One of the obstacles is in making choices or making excuses. We have that choice hundreds of times every day beginning when you first wake up.
Let's say you must be at work (or school) at 8 o'clock. The first thing you must do is get up early enough to get everything done to get there on time. Bosses don't like it if you are late. You can't do your job as efficiently or effectively if you aren't there promptly. Also you would not be considered as a reliable employee if you are consistently late.

First Choice of the day --Do I get up or hit the snooze button?
The Choice is Yours

What do you do when your alarm clock goes off? Do you CHOOSE to get up or do you make the excuse, I just must get 5 more minutes sleep, press the snooze button, roll over to get a few more winks. Then you must choose what to wear, if you drink your coffee black or with creamer, and the list goes on and on all day.
Now I also mentioned making excuses not to do what you know you need to do. So let's see the definitions between choices and excuses.
Choice or Excuse --Which One Gives you Power?
The Choice is Yours

Webster's Dictionary describes "excuse" as:
a: to make apology for b: to try to remove blame from
Webster's Dictionary describes "choice" as:
a: the right or power to choose
Which definition sounds more empowering to you? When you are making excuses for your actions, you are falling victim to those excuses, not to mention you are not taking the proper steps toward your goals.
Wellness or Weight Management Goals

What if your goals are for your health and weight, making choices or excuses will mean either reaching those goals or not.
Only you are in control of either making proper choices or making excuses
What About Fitness and Exercise Goals
Be consistent with your Proper Choices

You must be consistent in making your fitness choices. Only by being consistent can you reach your goals.
Fitness cannot be stored-so it is an ongoing process.
It is more important to do some moderate exercise regularly than doing hours of
exercise occasionally.
Test This Out--Set Your Goals
Use a Journal

Today, do a test.
Decide what you want to do, it could be any goal you choose.
Make a list of what steps you must do to reach that goal, and then examine your steps or choices. At the end of the day review what you have accomplished. Did you make choices or did you make excuses?
Writing in a daily journal is very helpful when you make goals. Using it daily will help you become more aware of if you are making choices or making excuses. Why not try it to accomplish your goals.
Share your Test Results
Try out the test, make your steps including your choices

- This is very helpful information. I know it's important to set measurable goals and both short term and long term ones. Without goals, we don't have direction, or know what we are planning for.

- Excellent lens. I like the "set your goals" test idea. I think that if you cannot carry out goals for the day that you might need to find some extra help with goal planning. Writing tasks down that I want to complete for the day has worked well for me. I have never projected far into the future, but I am re-evaluating doing so now. In any case, I am much better at it if I have it in front of me in writing.

- Just have to reach those goals for 2011. Your lens is helpful...make the choices not excuses. Hop with the Rabbit contains my own goals. My first time to make one in writing. Maybe, I will try to really do them. My best wishes to you for your own goals.

- Goal setting and making the right decisions always lead to success. It would be harder, however, to achieve your goals if you are suffering a femur fracture which may be due to long-term Fosamax use.

- I often wonder what path my life would have taken if I would have made different choices - it could have been so different. I love my life, but I can't help but wonder.

- Yes, different choices would have led us on different paths.
But remember this: you are a positive person and so you pretty much carry your entire atmosphere anywhere you go. You created it. It is in our power to create a happy life.
Some people have everything to be happy for-yet they are not happy. So you have created your happy life for yourself and your beautiful family.
Until later...

- Hey I love this page! Full of really good stuff. It is so important to set goals and have a reason to get out of bed everyday. Goal setting is great fun. The hard part is taking action on those goals. That's where you really have to dig deep so you actually accomplish what it is you want.
Again, great lens.
Thanks
