2007 was the year of Hip Hop vs. America

After the horrific words that came out of Don Imus' mouth, america took aim at the lyrics of modern day hip hop songs. This uproar brought such a division amongst the community that it desinigrated the very motive of Hip Hop....which is to bring ALL people together because of their common love for this genre of music.

Jesus Loves Hip Hop

Hip Hop and the Church

With so much negativity being brought to this genre of music, I'm here to shed light on how God is using Hip Hop to speak to our culture about His love. In my film, Blaze:The Truth Through Hip Hop, I tell a story of how various hip hop artist changed their lives and use their gift of rapping to touch lives all over the world. When I made this film I realized this is the side of Hip Hop no one talks about.

This form of positive hip hop is an alternative to the harsh lyrics that is blared on the raido daily. While most artist today only focus on the hooks, majority of the Christian artist grew up in the era of hip hop when you had to have awesome lyrics to be heard by anyone. They haven't let aspect of hip hop go so in their music they spit rhymes that'll make you hit the rewind button just to catch the metaphor they just said. And on top of all that, they implent their belief in Christ into their rhymes which gives them a bold and brave edge in the secular music industry.

Also, when you're watching the film have a pen handy so you can take notes of the artist's website and myspace pages. After watching the film go get a copy of the artist's albums and let them know you support them.

Peace and God bless yall,
